We really don't need to focus on Duhon anymore, cuz he's not the source of our problems. It's getting Jamal and Nate to a similar level of effectiveness. Nate in particular, since he comes off the bench to take the point. I'd like to see him continue to improve on his decision making. He can be so dynamic as a penetrator, that i'd like to see a bit more of that from him. He can use penetration to break down the D and setup others. If we spread the floor and let him operate I think he can drive at will.

Jamal I don't think will ever get to the point that we'd like him to get to. I think he's just not wired to drive and has mental lapses which lead to taking tough jumpers. IF he could just think drive and attack a bit more each game it would make such a huge diff. I remember he had a stretch when he was going strong to the hole and he was either scoring on floaters or getting to the line and it was a good thing to see. He's got to work that back into his game. It can't be just 3pt'ers.

Duhon is signed for 2 years so don't get attached. If Donnie is serious about 2010 we can't possibly keep him AND sign a LeBrawn. If we don't renounce his rights in 2010, he will represent a huge cap hold that will kill ANY cap space. We will either trade him or renounce his rights.

And your point guard will be....?
I suppose we'll go with no point guard? It'll just be JJ2, Q, and Lebron. There's a recipe for success.
You guys gotta snap out of it man.

We're going to have to draft one this year.

sure we can sign Duhon... we still have the MLE to use whether we're capped out or not... just gotta make sure we land the big name guy before we sign Duhon to any extensions... if he keeps improving this year Duhon might end up wanting more than a MLE tho.

No you're wrong. We wont have cap room until we renounce him.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Before the season started, I said numberous times that we'd be a better team, by default, because Chris Duhon is our starting PG. Not because of talent, but b/c we have a guy who plays smart and doesn't turn the ball over much, and can occasionally play some defense.

Well I was right and wrong, b/c we did become a better team by default, but we're above .500 so far b/c Duhon has a LIIIITTLE talent and has been playing great.

With that being said, if we ever got Jason Kidd, Mr. Duhon better have a nice time on the bench, b/c Kidd BETTER take that starting spot.

The difference between Duhon and the others on this team is less about playmaking and penetration and more about understanding the pace of the game. When to speed it up and when to slow it down. When to calm things down and reset etc. It's the nuances that separates Duhon from even Steph. It's a difficult thing to learn. I think we will see slight improvements in this area from one or both, but learning the PG position for a scorer is a difficult thing. Long-term maybe you have to look for a back-up(true PG) to Duhon, or move Duhon to the back-up for a young stud and then eventually you will have to move one of Jamal and Nate. If you want balance I think they are both very similar players. HOt and cold, can take over games, can hurt your team, can play the point and SG. We may be better off with one of them and a bigger SG that can play some serious d.
I just hope that people will like me

I am starting to like Duhon. I was not excited about the signing of Duhon when it happened but he is a little better than I thought he would be.

yeah but u can give him a verbal promise that he'll be re-signed during free agency tho just after the exclusive negotiating period expires.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
