TKF, I wanted Mark Jackson.
Maybe this city would have manhandled him, but think about it: Jackson is from St. Albans Queens, Bishop Loughlin, St. Johns, New York, Knicks rookie of the Year, an All-star in New York, then he was completely turned on by the city and chewed up and spit out.
Then he showed up and kicked our asses for 10 years.
My point is Mark Jackson understands the dynamic of New York. He is New York. He would have been prepared for the media, the fans, and the drama. LB had been gone too long, he did not realize or did not care.
D'Antoni obviously does not have a firm grasp on what it means to be a coach in NYC and have every breath analyzed by the media. He did not realize that what he did in training camp could haunt him in game 1. He thought that he had a honeymoon period. He did have a honeymoon but in New York the honeymoon only lasts until the first loss. From watching his dealing with the Phoenix media I think he is a bit too reactionary for this town. A coach here has to stop reading the papers, and keep his cool. You can't start cursing the fans in game 1.
I hope he succeeds, because I really onnly care about the Knicks winning, but he better start learning fast. Because he has never seen anything like this before!

oohah, all of that is ridiculous man, with all due respect. All of this understanding NY is hogwash. Other than the Yankees and the giants recently, this city is full of self aggrandizing, loud mouth, obnoxious fans. If this were the yankees who won 4 championships over the past decade and a rich history of winning, then I can understand, but the knicks haven't won shyt!!! shyt!! not since what 1971/72? We haven't wont a damn thing, so all of this, learning NY, understanding how to play in NY.. Is just hogwash...!!! We need a culture change not just as team and franchise, but as fans!!! Learn to be patient, less judgmental, less agenda driven, and lets stop being so quick to turn on our own..
Then he showed up and kicked our asses for 10 years. when? like the time we knocked their asses out of the playoff's with spree and Houston? or like his second go around here when we got him from toronto, chris childs busted his ass in the playoffs?
come on man. The knicks are not as great as a franchise as people in this city want to believe. We had some great moments in the 90's, great moments, I am proud of those days, but lets be real, what have we won? I am open to a new way, and new thinking, I know as New yorkers we feel we are these superior basketball fans, but honestly, I think have some knowledgeable fans, but they are the minority in NY. We have more fans who know less about basketball and more about being ignorant and beligerant and they feel because we had a team in the 90's that plodded , fouled acted tough and foolish at the same time, that we know what it takes to win. Ah, hogwash.. time for a change, a complete change. I am all for it, and I am willing to be a patient fan. Trying to find fault with professional, competent men like walsh and D'antoni is ridiculous, the remarks and pictures referring to walsh age and competency are childish and classless( I am not accusing you of this) and it just shows what type of silly, childish, entitlement filled, bipolar fan base we have here in this city..
Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser...............
