Walsh needs to get that Ferry on the phone and keep pushing Z-Bo for Wallace deal.

so trade a potential all star (in ZBO) for a fading star who has manage to stay out of trouble a bit more then he did in portland, and thats only because of the vets around him, (in Sheed).
I love sheed, but he's the wrong guy for this team by far

I just want to see If this is going to work before I start doing Fly by night trades and buying every one out...Have you guys relize IT did the same thing. You guys just want shorter contracts in return
and buy outs of massive amounts of money in an economy of today. On a business level thats just dumb, espcially if that same process as some what gotten you in this (what seems like) abyss.

Don't you evaluate a situation before you make a move, most out comes are successful that way. As oppose to running in and listening to what someone else tells you.
Do you take over a failing company and start firing everybody because they failed under the old management, knowing you got some good workers with poor habits. Walsh & MDA have to evaluate and build stock in these players in order to get something in return.

I think it's pretty obvious that Walsh has a plan to get under the cap in 2010. That's the only plan that's necessary right now and you can't trade these terrible contracts overnight. Jesus, give the man some time. All we do as Knick fans is whine about how things don't happen fast enough. Give the man some damn time.

Im sick of letting people **** up and just "giving them time" thats what i kept hearing with Isiah.. Every move he made was baffling but peple were just like "give it some time, he has a plan" etc etc.. A bad move is a bad move and its easy to see a mile away.

Trading Balkman and releasing PEJ... 2 horrible moves.

Signing Dantoni and Duhan, drafting GAllo... 3 questionable moves at best

I don't dispute your larger point. But with regard to Balk and PEJ, those type of guys are so much easier to get and replace than a shooter. Ariza, Balk, PEJ, JJ-lips, to a certain extent Lee...there's always a hustle guy to be found. But since Allan Houston, when have we had a shooter?

u wanna make sense of the Roberson signing, then trade Jamal or Nate... if he's that good of a shooter he needs to be seeing playing time... otherwise a shooter that's not gonna get on the court behind 4 other G's who are higher up than him on the depth chart makes no sense to me, it's not like we're talking about having Allan Houston on the roster for sentimental reasons... Ewing Jr. could have at least filled a few minutes here & there to make up for the absence of Fishlips & Gallo the first few weeks... again, someone explain to me the reasoning behind the Roberson signing cuz i just don't see any. (& this is not me bashing on Walsh... let's not get back to the same ol' crap where people aren't allowed to question moves w/o being called hatters on this forum)

As a rule I don't like to leave posts unanswered, but I'm really too detached these days to care taht deeply. In short, I wouldn't have fussed either way. If they kept PEJ instead of Roberson I'd be fine with it too. I'm just not gonna get bent over the 13th-14th guys off the bench - they're both just filler. That said, if one were to turn into something I think we'd be better off with it being Roberson because pure shooters are much harder to come by than SF scramblers.

If you feel otherwise it's cool. It's like arguing over which is better, a piece of popcorn or a potato chip. We ain't talking cheetos here...

I would have liked if one person got fired but that has not yet happened. Do you take over a company that was run into the ground by an executive who, was convicted of sexual harrassment, lost millions and destroyed the company for the present and the future, who was taped making racist statements and denied them, called out fans behind the bench while he was coaching, attempted to bury and destroy players careers to show his power (D.Nichols) and save his skin (Marbury), made the company the laughingstock of the industry it was in, caused the company to be considered the most unprofessional in sports, played with peoples lives (see Don Chaney, Deke, Wilkins, and even LB), and had the highest payroll with the least results. You can't change the past to make the lack of what Walsh has done look good. His most recent mistake was to take a journey man role player over a raw rookie with potential who has character, a tremendous work ethic and is a link to the past when the franchise was respected and the fans made their schedules around the teams games. The financial impact was minimal and if Walsh doesn't have the ability to find a journey man role player during the season if he desprately needs one he should not have the job.

I hear ya. My guess is that with prior commitments in place PEJ would have had to blow them away in order to make the squad and he simply didn't.

I was referring to Danny Ferry in Cleveland and Ben Wallace. Whose contract expires next year I believe. I just took $15 million off your salary cap for the summer of 2010. I don't care if Wallace ever plays or not next season.

"You start looking at well, what are our potential needs?" Walsh said. "I think that's where this went down to in the sense that it was felt that in the immediate future, potentially, that shooting could become a problem for this team. So that was the reason for Anthony Roberson because that's what he can do."

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/2008/10/ewing_jr_is_the_odd_man_out_1.html

As respects trades, you sell high and buy low. Trading guys after a 23 win season means selling low. It means potentially ending up with a worse team by 2010 than you started with because there's a mentality of getting under the cap by any means necessary. And what free agent is coming to a team like that? As Walsh said:

"Look, if you call up the New York Knicks, and every trade, people call up and they say I want your first-round pick and $3 million and you're getting a lesser player than I'm getting. At some point, somebody's got to say 'I'm not going to do that.' Period."

I'm not saying Walsh is doing a perfect job or that I agree with everything he's done, but it's not like he hasn't explained his plan and his actions.
