I love this trade for so many reasons. So hilarious and the symbolism is pretty stunning. It could wind up having no impact at all, but its just so great...

The son of the most famous draft pick in Knicks' history is traded to the Knicks for the rights to the worst draft pick in Knicks' history,

This "trade" defines the word irony.

Is there anyone who is not rooting for him to stick?

dammit, that question is just worded too strangely for me to figure out if I should say yay or nay. Been a long week. Would love him on the squad!

I dont know if i would root for him anymore than i would've rooted for Balkman. But yes, I will root for him. I doubt he makes the squad but maybe his hunger will push Wilson and Gallo and his defense in practice might make these guys adjust quicker to the L.

I don't see how lil Pat isn't kept on the roster. I suspect this was as much a PR move as anything- and who knows, maybe it comes from Dolan.

I love the move- mostly because I bet Pat jr. can bring a lot of intangibles- much like Luke Walton does for the Lakers.

I love the move!!!! Yeah there is a sentimental element to it, but most of all I think he's a better bench player than some of the guys we have kept around for years! Why not have a guy who'll give 110% every night and loves to play D? I see no downside to the move. I think he's ahead of the pace Balkman was on in terms of shooting. Balk STILL didn't want to take an open shot and that's just not good. I don't think Jr. is as bad and he may just do what Balk never did and eventually develop a jumper. If he does i'll be very happy. It's a feel good story and a useful player in one move.

Ewing is exactly like his father. He's a maniac. He plays defense and he is an awesome athlete. He could do damage at the dunk contest if he was invited.

He's good and I'm seriously excited about having him here.

I am hoping that Rose gets moved for a second round pick or bought out so he can sign on with another team, and then keep this Ewing fella.

There should be a spot once they waive Marbury (they're still doing that, aren't they?)

I"m surprised we even had that ******* wiess anymore. And I'm even more surprised by this move. I don't get it, but whatever. Obviously, nepotism is at work here. Donnie pulled a fast one on me. If you ask me, I think he's showing some sign of 'bending' a little to the fans demands? Foolish move if so. At least we still have Mardy.
I'll never trust this' team again.

If anything can end the Ewing curse, this should be close. Perhaps we could have signed the children of Mugsy Bogues, Luc Longley, Travis Knight, Vernon Maxwell, Vladmir Stepania and Lazaro Borell and two first round draft picks and two second round draft picks and traded them for Ewing Jr. and Dudley Jr. ... that would "undo the curse".
You know I gonna spin wit it

I think the Jr. pick up isn't a bad move for a role player at this point. He seems like he's got the Bruce Bowen role in his future if he can improve on his shot a bit. I think Balkman had a shot at that and now they want to go with someone else and if it just so happens that we make that person a sentimental choice as well, so be it. Let's not pretend that this harms the team in any way. EVERY team in the NBA has a player or 2 that don't really figure into the rotation or they have in a developmental program. He'll be a rookie just like any other kid trying to make the team, so what's the problem?
