D'Antoni looked like a deer in the headlights when he was interviewed following the draft pick. He did not look excited. He is a professional so he did not say the wrong thing. I have read articles where it said that he was 'convinced' by scouts and Walsh that Gallo was the pick. I also have read reports where it was said that he would be afraid to use a mid first round pick to draft him. That is as close to a smoking gun as you are going to get. The guy said he wanted a motor. The guy said he would be afraid to use a 'mid' first round pick on Gallo when he was with the Suns. The guy said his new boss and the scouts convinced him that it was the right pick. I don't see that as an endorsement.

Your reaching at straws here, bro. Your analyzing his facial expressions during interviews to judge whats going on behind his eyes in his mind? Source or Sauce its still not a direct quote from D'Antoni (in which you said D'Antoni was directly quoted).

Okay, since your stuck on this Isiah conspiracy, why can't the opposite conspiracy theory be true.

D'Antoni coached and played in Italy, the same place Gallo was raised and played. (Check)
D'Antoni is Italian. Gallo is Italian. (Check)
D'Anotni still had contacts back in Italy who can keep him abreast of the talent over there. (Check)
D'Antoni is fluent in Italian as is Gallo. (Check)
D'Antoni wore number 8 in Italy and it happens to be Gallo's number. (Check)
D'Antoni played alongside Gallo's father. (Check, Check, and Checkmate)

I believe there was a thread on this forum about D'Antoni and his reaction at the draft. If not it was covered in one and not by me.

Anthony Randolph -- born in Germany, but a Dallas high school product who spent one season at Louisiana State University -- has relocated so many times he can't tell you how many places he has lived.

Hmmmm...So Randolph is a foreign born player? Surprised some of you guys actually wanted him on the Knicks, then.

I'll give you my own hypothetical "conspiracy." What if D'Antoni actually wanted Gallinari while he was with the Suns, and thought that he could diminish his stock so he would slip down the ladder for Phoenix to get him? Not the first time an organization had tried to downplay a player's talent so that someone up in front would have questions about taking him. A good fit for Gallinari- hitting 3pt shots off Nash feeds. Most teams rarely let information like that get out unless it is for a purpose. Very hard to hide talent today, but not so hard to damage it with a few well placed and well timed negative comments. (And who better to do such a thing than someone who had played with the elder Gallinari-someone who other teams might have thought WANTED Gallinari.)

By the way, asking a team rep or coach about who they might draft is similar to one of those foolish TV reporters (usually female, I might add) who ask a a football or basketball coach at halftime what changes they plan on making (or made) during halftime to win the game.

We have every theory in the world except this one.........

Maybe the majority of the Knicks brass involved in the decision making thought he was the best player available.
I just hope that people will like me
