Again we need a PG---I hope we try to land Gordon. I will be slightly shocked if we dont try to get him--we can literally say we dont have any PGs if Marbury is being bought out. Certainly he must be the highest rated player who did not get drafted at the position we need. Maybe they dont think he is the purest of PGs but this would be a bluner--I think this has a chance to be a gift type move.

Duhan had some stretches a few years ago where he was unbelievable.

i'd rather target Carlos Arroyo but if we're looking for a backup PG option then Duhon wouldn't be a bad option on the cheap.

are they going to offer him more than 2 years?

Another safe move. This is one I can reason on because Duhon is high character, plays within himself, defends, and comes from a good college background. Good question DJ I don't see anything less than 3yrs working, not to mention he would demand the full MLE.

You are probably right. Duhon should be able to get a three year deal from someone. The only way he signs a two year is if every other team only offers him $2-$4 million and we are willing to give him the full MLE for 2 years. In that scenario, he would actually make more money signing with us as long as he did not get hurt.

I would be happy with Duhon. He is a solid stop gap until we can find an elite PG. He plays defense, doesn't turn the ball over, is not a head case, and is a decent shooter.

That's fine. Keep in mind, D'antoni probably got some good feedback from Coach K about Duhon. Duhon always plays well whenever he starts in place of Hinrich. In D'antoni's spread offense I can see him even be utilized more with his all around game.

I don't see what the point of acquiring Duhon would be. We don't need a backup PG. we need a starting PG. Nate is fine as the back up.

I think saying Duhon can be effective as a nice back up for 12-15 minutes is pretty accurate. I could care less if coach K called him the best PG in Duke history--in the NBA hes been a marginal player.

Lets just use Marbury--we owe him 17mm$ bring in a very cheap rookie like Jamont Gordon and lets see what he can do in the SL with the guys. If they get him to concnetrate soley on PG play---they could get a real cheap steal. Hes better than Duhon right now whether drafted or not.

Duhon???? Please let this be a bluff to show teams we aren't desperate for a point guard in trade talks.

I got to agree, I wouldn't mind bringing in Jamont for SL too. Would be great to find our own Ramon Sessions. So Duhon would help right now if Knicks signed him cheap not necessarily the whole MLE. At this point I would rather have Duhon over Marbury even if Marbury is a better player than him. The stats I couldn't give a hoot who is better. Duhon gives all those intangibles a pg is supposed to do and I'm betting he would make everyone a better player. He is like an upgraded version of Charlie Ward. Marbury will always be Marbury, the ship has sailed on him and time for a clean slate. Never mind running up and down in those hollywood hills.

It would be nice to have a pg who plays some d, who can distribute the ball and hit an open jump shot.

Duhon and Felton are very similar. Duhon might be better at helping the floor spacing as he can hit the three pointer at a decent clip. But felton is aweful from the three point range but better at attacking the rim. If I'm the Knicks I stay away from Duhon and give Nate the run at pg for better or for worse you have to find out what he can do when given run. Let Mardy get run too since its all about the draft picks and 2010.

If the Knicks are serious then its hands down the best fit for the Knicks system it is Beno.

Walsh is merely exploring his options at this point. Duhon is a good start, cuz he's IMO more likely to accept a short term deal. There are other PG's who have a bit more value around the league. This would be a good look for him in that he'd be in a high profile spot and with a chance to look better than he has in Chi. It's basically a chance for him to raise his stock in a system known to inflate numbers. Why wouldn't he want to do that? I doubt Walsh with jump the gun before exploring all his options. This seems like due diligence work.

Personally I think we'll end up with someone else anyway. I think other options will open up, once teams start to really look at their roster situations. ie Memphis, who has to do something about their guard glut. I feel pretty confident that we'll end up with someone decent in the end. One article suggested Steve Blake, Beno Udrih, Kyle Lowry, Chris Quinn or Anthony Carter as PG's who would fit D'Antoni's system. They based it on the fact that these guards had very good Ast to TO ratios and scored efficiently. Whether via FA or trade I think we'll end up with one of these guys instead of Duhon.

The difference between Duhon and Felton is that one can get into the lane and to the rim and one cannot, and the difference between those 2 skills is extremely significant.

Yes it is significant and that is why I woould stay away from both the players. They both are pisspoor shooters.

I would give Beno the full MLE. You still need quality players to put around LeBron, Wade, Bosh and whoever the the Knicks supposedly are targeting in 2010.

Sporting News - Knicks will meet with Duhon tommorrow and are targeting him for point guard spot.
