I was very impressed by this latest DG video. Looks like a complete package on offense. I don't see stiff legs at all. I see extremely long strides - this guy gets where he wants to go when driving the ball. He actually looks like an even more mobile Dirk Nowitzki. Scary.... Anyone know anything about the other parts of his game - rebounding, defense?????
he has impressed the teams he's worked out for & his stock is clearly on the rise... if people like Rod Thorn & Donnie Walsh are high on this kid i have a hard time taking anything anyone says negative about him on a fan message board too seriously.

i agree that he looks very mobile & fluid off the dribble... dunno much about his D cuz clips don't show much of that part of his game... i have to think the scouts & GM's who've seen him play live are well aware of that aspect of his game.

Just watched the video - and I have been pretty open about wanting Mayo because I think he will be a top G in the league (maybe not Kobe or Lebron but he will be up there) - and I think I would be ok with Gallinari at #6 especially if it prevents us from getting raped for a higher pick.

My question to BRIGGS/Others who may know - were there videos that made Lampe look this good? Because we havent had the most success with Euro's and that makes me concerned.

No. Lampe doesn't compare numbers-wise and did not play in as good a league.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Lampe hardly played as well, from what I understand.

Rod Thorn on with Chris Russo right now. He seems to be another person who thinks Gallinari will be a very good NBA player.

I dont believe I'm saying this, but Gallinari's youtube videos are surprisingly strong. That combined with his frame is sort of enticing. I can see what Thorn sees. In no way is this cat close to Lampe. Now that fool had some stiff legs and concrete shoes.

GM's are such sheep. Euro's arent in vogue right now, so you see a forensic type examination of Gallinari to the point where they convince themsleves that he cant play for whatever reason. Before, every Euro was the next Novitzki. This same ebb and flow was true of American Black players a few years ago. My guess is that Gallinari will reverse the Euro bust trend. Should be good, possibly real good. But he has his limitations.

Tim Thomas the disappointment, or Tim Thomas if he maximized his potential?

tim thomas maximized potential is a HOF player. i think tim thomas' best year in the nba is what i would project gallinari's peak value. (similar to hedo)

stats wise i'd be fine if Gallinari gave me Tim Thomas #'s, just as long as he's not a fugazy slacker, which i have a good feeling he won't be.

In agreement. At this point, I wouldnt be devestated if his name is called. Bayless is the guy tho, seems like he is destined to slip in our wheel house.

I was waiting for someone to pull up a "Briggs" thread. The guy looks special, that is for sure.
I know Briggs wants him to succeed, but it will be a double edged sword after all his complaining.

If The Rooster succeeds, Briggs is gonna have to deal with something similar to what alanis morrisette's
ex-boyfriend had to deal with from his friends after "Jagged Little Pill" came out.

But Briggs, seriously, the The Rooster looked really special out there. I know it was summer league but for now we can say he is a smart player and his athleticism seems pretty good. Time will tell...

what if he just becomes a good NBA player? You know, weird thing.. thats what most teams use their draft picks for. Everytime the Knicks draft someone its like he's either Patrick Ewing or he's not.

What is your point? People are just excited after years of below mediocrity play, management, etc.
Let us enjoy the first glimpse of something really special in many years. I'm not saying that from
just last nights game, but rather from the overseas reports and what not.
Yeah, he may just turn out average, but we haven't had a lottery pick in a while so we are going to run with it.

Understandable, and I'm not pointing to you, but there are so many "joy-kills" around here. Perhaps it is well
founded from our past ineptitude during drafts, management, play, etc. In all fairness there are many sides
to a story, but many here, including me, think this kid may turn out to be something very special. And it's nice
to say that when it's not just based on inherent athleticism for a change. We finally drafted a smart player
who can actually play the game.

The time leading up to the draft and that period after is often the most exciting time for fans (especially when
your team sucks as much as ours does).

I just think we, as fans, are trying to enjoy what little we have (or may have)...

imo,
