Dont disagree with this premise but Nash had no business winning the MVP that second year.

The NBA has an Image to keep up.

Nash had record breaking numbers the 2nd year he won it and they won 55 games without Amare (and advanced to the WCF's), which is something most critics of his first MVP award said he couldn't do.

you're taking the race truck out of the wrong door here brother

Actually, the second MVP was the one he really deserved. His first MVP should have been Duncan's MVP, and there were a couple of other candidates who were more deserving as well.

oohah

and duncan's mvp in 2002 should've been kidd's.

That is the truth. Kidd got totally screwed that year. Led his team to the finals, and if he wasn't there they were headed to the lottery.

That's why you can't take the MVP too seriously. too much politics.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I'd feel that either Paul or Kobe would deserve it if chosen. However, I want to make a statistical argument for Paul. First in scoring, they are one and two - Kobe with 40.5 and Paul with 33.5. But Kobe's shooting % is 50.9 - very high for a guard, while Paul's is 64.1 - absolutely incredible. Then looking at assists, Kobe has a very good 5.5 compared with 1.5 to's. Paul's 13.5 with 2.0 turnovers is absolutely incredible. They are both deserving candidates, but Paul is from another planet.

Where are you getting those stats from?! Kobe didn't average 40.5 PPG! All the #s seem off.

You're right. Big mistake. These are playoff stats. Sorry.

HAHAHA! People do that every year in at least one thread in late April!

He missed it by .3stl/gm go ahead and cheer over the technicality because it had been stated several times by people making cases for him Hubie Brown, Mike Breen, Mark Jackson, JVG all pointing to this near accomplishment.

My bad. It is a technicality. Paul only missed it by .3 steals a game. Similar to how Ewing missed that finger-roll by half an inch! They should have just given him the basket, after all, he only missed it in a "technical" sense. God-damn technicalities!

Yeah JVG, Breen, Hubie, Jackson and others are all morons for pointing out Paul's near history making season. Oohah you have a mousy bark and bite very ineffective like a little mut who gets kick in the face or azzz and told to go away for being one.

I thought when the Rocks went 1/4 of the season without a loss he was a candidate, and if they finished on top of the west, then he was the MVP of the REGULAR season. And did most of it without Yao.

Paul is making an Even better case for his play in his first playoff games, but thats a different matter.

All the guys we are talking about are deserving in some manner. Great players doing great things.

Regarding Lebron, I am not sure he is making his players around him better or is he trusting yet. No doubt he is a super talent that adds wins!

Paul had a great season and one could argue that had the Hornets finished tops in the west he should win it. Its that close.

I think Deron Williams deserves some consideration, but not enough to place in the top 3.

I think Kobe gets it for many reasons as he plays strong defense, puts points up, and plays within the team game.

Paul is a close second. Perhaps with tenure he gets the nod in the future, but not now.

Not a slight on his season at all, it was a great one. Having Peja healthy this year was great for the team. It opened things up for them.
