i don't get this talk of being exposed in another system.

what other system? did john stockton ever play in another system? how do you know he could play any other way except pick and roll with another top50 player of all time? would stockton be exposed without the 2nd best PF of all time to score all his passes?

he is playing for the raptors and he's playing at a high level - good enough to be an all star this season.

DJ I love the Raptors and really like Jose, but what NBA system you play in makes a big difference when you are a Euro pg.

Any other euro pg's close to calderon on any other team ?

Tony Parker isn't an all-star either, without TD Tony wouldn't be as effective.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

if the debate were about him making the all-NBA team, all the talk of being dominant and indespensible and a total game breaker might hold merit.

as for the all-star game, he has the best overall numbers out of any pg in the East.

Joe being a better overall player has nothing to do with who was having the better year thru the 1st half of the season.

Trust me if calderon was truly an NBA all-star he wouldn't continue to split time with a non all-star TJ Ford. NUFF SAID !

He would get exposed in another system.

just like if Marion the Barbarian was really a pro-bowl running back he wouldn't have split carries all year with Julius Jones

or

if GINOOOOOOBLIIIIIII was truly an all-star he wouldn't have been coming off the bench behind Bruce Bowen

did he split carries? I thought he won that job this year. I had julius on my fantasy team and he got no carries.. LOL..

Quite sad when an argument is presented that can't be proven.

But speaking of other systems isn't Calderon a World Champion starting point guard from the European League?

nothing to prove.. the guy isn't good enough. The fans didn't think so, and the coaches.... but I guess you know more than those NBA coaches.... How many votes did calderon receive.? just curious..

You keep missing my point. I'm not saying Calderon should be playing in the All-Star game, although you could make an argument for him. I'm saying he's playing and having an All-Star caliber season which you can mention him in the same breath with other All-Star. For Arenas to say he's 20 years away from being one is ASININE!

I don't think his name was even on the ballot.

I understand your point, but really you have to sift through arenas's bullshyt. that 20 years away thing is overexaggerating, in typical arenas fashion, but I understand the essence of his rant about calderon. It is the same thing he did when he opened his big mouth about deng, okafor and gordon when they declined those contracts, he said they were not worth that type of money, now although the market in some cases, especially with okafor, dictates that he could get the kind of money he wants( just see tyson chandler and dalembert). His overall message was that they were not worth that type of money even though lesser players were making that kind of money. we knew where arenas was comming from... The same thing applies here, he overexaggerated but the essence of his rant to me is well understood.... Sometimes guys will have a great start to the season and may play on a very high level for a period of time, but that doesn't make them an allstar.. I think the same applies here... and again, it is no knock on calderon...

for the talk on clutch, calderon had an and one on the road against boston to give them one of their losses this year with about 11 seconds live, i remember watching that live.

his assist to TO ratio is absurdly high, there is no arguing that. he does shoot a high clip but he also plays in an offense that boosts his #'s. that being said, he's one of the top PG's in the east (all the top ones are in the west! baron, tony P, nash, deron williams, CP-trois, bassy telfair haha but he has played better of late, etc etc)

magic cut it to 12 pts in the 4th, calderon hits a 3, hits another 3, then throws an alleyoop to moon...

with 2:25 to go in the 4th, 8-10 from the field, 2-2 from 3, 13 asts, 1 to, 19 pts

let the bitchslapping continue...

I've been trying to tell people for a while now. It's especially superb when the Knicks force you to appreciate it.

Meanwhile Calderon DROPS 13 DIMES AND 13 ASSIST AND ONLY 1 TURNOVER.
