Back in high school we used to yell at people for not having enough school spirit like all the real fans.

Really? You must have been a real dork in High School.

If I were "yelling" over cyberspace (or was even capable of doing so) that might be true.

It's not the win total you project that makes you a fan or not. I predict that the SPurs will win 60 games and I'm not a SPurs fan.

It's that you hate the Knicks, stupid.

"True" fan kam, predicts 39 wins.

The ultimate Knicks "Hater" islesfan predicts 38 wins.

Go figure.

So you only want to use part of the comparison to the cubs, the part that suits your argument. Not surprising.

When compairing the knicks to the cubs, you should include the whole package. If that constitutes as flaming, so be it. The things i named did happen under isiah's tenure. You can't hide that as much as you may like too.

It wasn't flaming i mentioned those things to shoot holes in your argument of compairing our situation to that of the Cubs.

The truth hurts.

If you want to discount what grunfeld did as mediocre with a cinderella run? What is your definition of Isiah's tenure?

Oh wait, i bet i know already. "It was Larry's fault"

I was hoping we could have some intelligent discourse, but I see you want to go the trueblue route.

Good day to you sir.

oohah

Man what I say really does matter to you. If you aren't capable bow out gracefully.

Oh and BTW azamatbagatov you've done an admirable job with your early contributions to the board. Keep up the fine work. Only the Strong survive and stand tall like a Pillar, remaining indefinite like a mountain, while the weak throw temper tantrums and wilt like leaves that eventually expire.

All that back and forth and Shake n Bake makes the point in one shot.

Interestingly, in the Knicks world of today it's easier to define what a "real fan" is than a winning season.

A winning season is typically an easily determined objective measure, while something as nebulous as a "real fan" is wholly subjective and undefinable.

But since people (real fans?) are so desperate for something to believe in, they are prone to spinning losing seasons into something more, making it also subjective.

I happen to find that interesting, but I'm not surprised you wouldn't.

This is supposed to be the point of the entire thread?

Why do people think that the Spurs will win 60 games?

Because they're a great team, well run, well coached with great players who complement each other.

Why do people think that the Knicks will be a sub .500 team?

Because they're not a very good team, their management is incompetent, their coach is below average and they don't have good team players who complement each other.

But if you can actually see these things and acknowledge them, that makes you a hater and not a fan. If you can see them but refuse to acknowledge them, it makes you delusional.

I'm a fan of the Knicks, have been since I was a little kid, but I'm not a fan of the present management who has made this team a complete laughingstock and I want competent management.

When did demanding competency become such an unfair request? In how many other aspects of your life do you accept this magnitude of incompetency? But for some reason some people think that it's unreasonable to be disgruntled about what's going on with a team we love.

I've never seen that movie.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Oh I see. This really is topsy-turvy land, isn't it?

Isn't it true that no team would define their fans as people who root for them to lose? But somehow that’s debatable here.

And I think if you asked the fans of any team that isn't contending for a championship what their goal was for the season you'd get different answers. But here that is supposed to be an objectively defined goal.

You are really on a different plane of consciousness. How do I get where you are?
