Do non-assets get picked up that quickly by contending teams?

Would JJ have been picked up like that?

Would Malik Rose have?

Would Fred Jones have?

Which JJ?
I'll never trust this' team again.

No, except for Fred Jones, of course. He'd be snapped up in a milisecond. You don't ignore that kind of manpower when it becomes available.

I can't tell if your joking or serious.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Regardless of whether Nichols plays well or not, TKF was able to predict this transaction. How? Because when you see their line-up you see that they needed a shooter to COMPLIMENT Lebron James. So they took a chance on a rookie shooter. The move made sense.

Can you predict what the next move the Knicks will make?

well we already tried to duplicate steph with francis.
now we try to duplicate eddy with zach.
so the only one left is to duplicate crawford...maybe flip murray?

Of all the moves the Knicks made in the last several years, no one could've predicted any of it because most of it never made any sense.

The Frye/Francis for Randolph and extras trade had nothing to do with DNic.

2 completely different trades, so yes, this was a completed wasted transaction.

Martin, it was one deal: http://www.nba.com/transactions/jun2007_transactions.html

"New York acquires Zach Randolph, Fred Jones, Dan Dickau and the draft rights to Demetris Nichols from Portland in exchange for Steve Francis, Channing Frye and a 2008 second-round draft pick."

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I get the feeling that Isiah has been trying to duplicate the Isiah, Dumars, Vinny backcourt for 3 years now.

ESPN lists it differently.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/teams/transactions?team=nyk

Acquired forward Zach Randolph and guards Dan Dickau and Freddy Jones from the Portland Trail Blazers for guard Steve Francis and center Channing Frye; acquired the rights to forward Demetris Nichols from Portland for a 2008 second-round pick.

Nope, 2 separate transactions that happened on the same night. The above is just a run on sentence. For real.

And the nasty boys up front? oops Curry is too nice.

I have disliked Isiah from day 1and find new reasons to be dissatisfied with him every week. He's a poor coach and worse GM who has ability to judge talent but no clue how to mold a team or use his players.

look at my post last week. I predicted this... good, I hope he kicks the shyt out of the knicks on friday, right in front of dolan and Isiahs face.. really, I am going to be rooting for this kid to drop 30 with 6 threes!!

That's being too kind how about 50? That's what I'm hoping for.

I am dead serious, I hope lebron drives and kicks, and nichols is just hot as hell... I find it funny, over at real gm, all I hear is how this kid was never going to be a star, but during summer league, all the talk was how legit this kids shot was. Now all of a sudden he is a nobody.. LOL.. hey, I may be a knick homer at times, but I am real bro.... This move stinks. People can treat this like we are cutting walker JR, toby bailey or lavar Postel, but nichols was a real, and legit NBA rookie prospect,I mean he is, and we now hand cleveland a gift... wow......

But at least we keep Jerome James and Fred Jones, right? So there's some consolation.

great post.. as I said earlier, I figured cleveland would grab this guy, they need a shooter badly, especially one that can play SF.. and they have a good front office.. they grabbed nichols, that tells me something...

so the knicks didn't want to buy out jerome james, but they will pay him 1/3 of his remaining salary( which I think he has 3 years left) to sit on his fat ass all year, since he may miss the season.... cot damn!!

I hope he's Hot As Fish Grease. I'm not BSing I really do. I want him to accomplish some kind of record by the half, to the point I SAY UGH feels he has to incite another brawl.

You're a different kind of Homer but now you now the kind of characters we've been dealing with. Quite a few here said I SAY UGH picked 2 of the Top 5 shooters in the draft and now that Nichols gone he was worth just about that to us a Nickel. Matter of fact one of the posters who said we have 2 of the top 5 shooters in the draft informed most of us not to fret over the fact we could lose Nichols because Fred Jones wasn't going to see that many minutes anyway. Fred would be one of I SAY UGH'S situational players and receive minutes here and there. Well reality bit us all in the Azzz and it's nice to know we let 2 2nd round picks go one being the player Nichols for Fred Jones a player who'll get situational minutes.

Well my source is the NBA so I think it may be a little more official. Regardless, even if it happened in two short bursts, it was all one night, so that strikes me as one deal, package, etc.
