Islesfan, a suggestion. If you are going to interject yourself into a conversation (as I am doing now) at least bother to read the preceding posts beforehand.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone did that? I think this suggestion should be directed to the entire board, since I'm going to estimate that a lot of people do it.

I'll be honest, I skim over certain people's posts as well, so I think this is a common thing.

No, I read Bip's post. He was complaining about how certain Knicks have a history of coming into camp out of shape. Then misterearl asked Bip who came to camp out of shape this year. Insinuating that Bip's complaints weren't valid and that these players should now get credit for coming to camp in better shape than they have in the past.

Maybe you should figure out that reading comprehension thing before you open your mouth.

I'm pretty sure Stephon talked about not being in the best of shape last year to start. It's been clear that Eddie and JJ have come into camp out of shape at various times throughout their careers as well. It seems that if you complain about JJ you are okay. If you complain about the others than somehow that makes you a hatter(I prefer this term over hater).

I personally think this topic is inane. I talk about what I see. When players play hard I applaud them regardless of the name on the jersey. When guys lose focus I comment on that as well. It's weird that some feel that I should only be allowed to talk about the positive side and not the other. Censorship is alive and well.

The team has shown signs. IF they have a continued committment to winning and play up to MY STANDARDS I will applaud everything. Until then I will continue to comment on what I see. When guys play well I say so. When guys play poorly I say so. What is the big deal?

Leaving the assinine reading comprehension comment out for the good of the thread and expanding on Earl's query...

Who on the Knicks have a "history" of coming to camp out of shape?

Jerome James? Check. Who else?

You mean other than Curry and Marbury? Isiah said himself that Marbury wasn't in good shape coming into last year. And Curry said he wasn't in good shape last year.

No you are correct. Since the Marbury trade we have had only one player with a history of coming to camp out of shape. No one has quit and the pouting during comebacks that I thought was Marbury was actually an undercover conspiracy led by Jerome James

Stephon has been one of the iron men of the league in terms of consecutive games played, but comes to camp one year admittedly out of shape and now he has a “history”.

Eddy Curry played 35 mins per game for 81 games last year (a feat I don’t think was matched by any other big man in the league) but somehow did that while being out of shape.

We talk a lot about the shape our guys are in because it’s the easiest thing to point to in order to support the contention that they aren’t playing hard. You can, after all, still put in the effort and lose games, but no excusing a guy who comes to camp out of shape.

Only problem is, there is precious little evidence that our players come into camp in worse shape than most players around the league. And there is now plenty of evidence to suggest that our guys have used the disappointment over last season to motivate to start this season on the right foot.

So much for “history”.

Yes, Marbury pouted after being benched by Isiah in the fourth quarter foor a few games, then responded by playing some of the best team ball in his career.

Damn Marbury.

Do you even understand what history means?

If you get arrested for DWI, you now have a history of driving while intoxicated.

If you have heart attack, you now have a history of heart problems.

Marbury was admittedly out of shape last year, who's to say he wasn't the year before with LB?

Curry has come to camp out of shape in all but 1 other year, his contract year when he needed to have a big year.

That's a history.

Exactly. I killed Marbs when he pouted on the bench. That was one of the most disappointing experiences of my history as a NY fan. I didn't call for him to be traded, I didn't call for him to be killed. I simply killed him for this selfish act. And I was correct in doing so. In return guys like you called me hater.

Then when he seemed to turn his attitude around and play team ball, guys like me complimented him. I praised his newfound effort probably as much as you did. So what again is the issue? I call it the way I see it. Is that fair? Or should I ignore the bad stuff and just applaud the good stuff?

For the record I have said almost nothing good or bad about Steph this summer. My last known memory of Steph is that he played pretty well down the stretch and acted weird this summer. But since I dont' care about that my only known memory of Steph are good things . I guess I will be a hater until I start saying things like "Steph will be the league's best PG in the league this year"

For someone who supposedly dislikes the hater vs. lover labels, you use them an awful lot in your rhetoric.

Guys like me? I wasn't posting here then, and in fact, you have no idea what I was saying at the time. I was actually applauding Isiah for doing what so many claimed he wouldn't have the balls to do, and contrasting his method of dealing with Marbury with LB's (that debate was still fresh then).

You call it the way I see it. Allow me to present a counter-point (unless you feel none actually exists to your oh so neutral and unbiased opinion) without being lumped into your own completely arbitrary hater and lover labeling.

I use the hater and lover term all the time. It's my own form of sarcasm. Normally I put it in quotes but I thought that made the sarcasm to obvious.

Not once have I ever said don't put forth a counter point. Once again you are having an argument with someone else and projecting that on to me. I welcome a counterpoint. I would love a counterpoint. But a counterpoint to what? You just said you agreed with me on the Marbs issue so what's the counterpoint? I used to see others do that as well. Battle me tooth and nail, call me "hater" or "lover" only to agree with this "hater/Lover" 15 minutes later.

Really? Then why is it whenever one is presented the hater/lover argument is trotted out while you assert your right to "call it like I see it". Why not simply address the point, as you did within the post, without being so touchy about it?

Isles, if Marbury comes into camp out of shape one year out of twelve while showing up this year in excellent condition, I think its more accurate to say last year was an aberration rather than saying Steph has a "history of coming into camp out of shape." Yes, some people see what they want to see.

And no, again, Curry did not come to camp out of shape last season.

If you had been posting here longer you would understand that Bip is not being touchy, he is joking. Something I have yet to see you do in your 488 posts. I don't care if you morons run around calling each other haters and lovers. I don't care if you call me a hater or lover either. It has no effect on my mood other than it just gives me more things to be sarcastic about. You'll figure me out when you hit 500 posts.

So the summary is: You have no counterpoint to what I say you just don't like the way I say it. As far as my opinion on the players you somewhat agree with me. I'm willing to bet that if I look at the prediction thread from earlier this summer you and I will have near identical predictions as well. Regardless, the inane arguments will continue.

For the record: Last year both TMS and Blueseats and SeatsBlue had very long arguments with me regarding my defense of Stephon Marbury's efforts. If you don't think I'm fair you are a mental case.

PS: I don't think you are a mental case. I am joking.

Rembee: you think Eddie was in shape last year. Others think Eddie was out of shape. It's all opinion. Who decides which opinion makes you a lover and which makes you a hater?

I'm just curious.
