Don't Sweat The Technique

loweyecue - blinders?

Marbury and Isiah are just humans with human flaws. They both have made mistakes which are well-documented. I simply enjoy the obtuse angles. Don't hate the optimist, hate the cat who wants the Knicks to lose.

For example, Debating whether each and every transaction Isiah has initiated and completed favors the Knicks becomes moot when people who refuse to accept the fact that of the players he has dealt away, only Dikembe Mutombo (in his last year) and ... hold up... who else is still playing in the NBA?

So, in his favor, I would contend the Knicks are better off today than they were when he took over, regardless of the record to date, because the cupboard is better stocked with talent. (insert Jerome James jokes here)

NYK skill-sets and desire, in my opinion, that will cohere in December as it did last season. The difference this season is the Knicks have better depth and may withstand injuries better down the stretch. If Marbury, Fred Jones or Mardy Collins or even Jared Jordan leads the way at point guard, I don't care. Just win baby. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

See, same old arguments again

I will say this though you have a really strange yardstick for measuring how much improvement Isiah has brought to this team. Most people would use W-L records, but we wont go there.

We can sit here are argue about how they are human beings with human flaws, but human beings get fired from their jobs for far less than the type on incompetence these two have demonstrated. People making less than $10 an hour with no hope of getting another job and facing real poverty get fired daily for causes like showing up to work late for three days.

So that type of argument sounds fairly comical when used on behalf of losers with multimillion dollar salaries who are insolent enough to beleive that they can slack off and consistently underperform. When you pay somebody the type of money these idiots get you expect to hold them to the highest possible standards so enough with the sob stories already.

Blinders indeed.

Now We're Getting Somewhere

loweyey - I find the comparison of pro athletes to the average working schmo particularly relevant to this discussion of perception. Allow me to be clear that all this is, is a place where we all bring personal sensibilities, preferences and biases. Every one of us.

If you harbor resentment for millionaire athletes I would offer that the college game might be more your cup of tea.

Last I checked, the only person responsible for paying the money is the Dolan family.

Now, now, no twisting of my words if you please.

Resentment towards pro atheletes because they make money? Where in the blue hell did you get that from?

I said and I repeat that it is beacuse they make so much more money the expectation is to hold them accountable to the "hghest possible standards" and these two haven't even met the standards that laborers getting hourly wages barely over minimum pay are held to.

The resentment I see is fron your end because I am trying to hold a couple of natural born losers accountable for their past actions and you are bringing up all this psycho-social **** to defend them. If you can't hold professionals accountable for what they do at the workplace then we will never have grounds for holding a discussion.

All publicly traded companies (yes even cablevision) is supposed to be run for the sole reason of increasing shareholder value. Dolan's may own it but they are not sole proprietors they still have a legal, ethical and moral responsibility to run MSG as well as its subsidiaries a manner that consistently increases the shareholder value.

Do the Knicks make money? Maybe but please do not confuse making money on ticket sales with increase shareholder values. If anything the Knicks organization decreases the toatl value provided by the rest of cablevision. That is where Dolan fails miserably as a boss and this is where you want highly paid professionals to be held accountable for their actions.

I am not jealous of the money these people make (I actually think someone like steve Nash deserves to make more than he does)I am truly apalled and dumbfounded with the impunity, insolence and arrogance with which this complete lack of professional conduct is carried out in public.
