i'm pretty happy with the pickup, but i think we need to make a trade - or cut JJ1, dickau and put nichols in the NBDL or in europe. ideally we could just cut JJ1, fred jones, and dickau, but i dont think isiah will.

IMHO Isiah recognizes the players he's assembled together all need the ball consistently.

The need of a pg that's very unselfish is needed so bad now, I commend Isiah for not trusting marbury nate or crawford who at any given moment would rather shoot if things are getting tight instead of running an offense.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I doubt this guy sees one-fifth the playing time Marbury does.

Bonn1997 - if we know anything about the future, and the future of the Knicks, is that it is totally unpredictible.

That's fine but past history does not suggest that Isiah gives much playing time to young players on the league min salary.

I remember clowning the rumor that isiah was interested in this guy. So now the knicks own this guys rights. Knicks might not even sign him.

Crazy, crazy, crazy.

What does isiah have up his sleeve? He obviously has something brewing. I'm at the edge of my seat!

Bonn1997 - you are getting to far ahead of yourSELF dude. No one knows what Isiah has up his sleeve next because even HE doesn't know.

If "past history" is any indicator the Knicks will continue to be a work in progress. The operative word being 'progress'

Enjoy the ride.

Here's hoping Jared Jordan pushes the intellectual level of backcourt play up a notch

Marbury sets the bar pretty low so it's not a big hump to get over.

Finally, Perhaps I am give Zeke too much credit, but it would seem he has a very full roster (including rumors of Houston being invited to camp). I have to think that a multi-player deal is in consideration.
I agree. A multi-player trade makes sense.

Also, since we brought in Glen Grunwald about a year ago, trades and other signings have been more sane. I think we can give Glen more of the credit for working out the details on this.

Martin - I don't fault any GM or president for making aggressive moves to improve his roster

It will be worth watching to see how the players respond to the new combinations and shift lines

Markji - who cares about designating credit when the only objective is to win basketball games?

Bad moves - Isiah

Good moves - Grunwald

Okay, I get it.

I stand corrected Jordan is not severely undersized. With Brevin signing they probably feel no room for him with 2SS 2LL there also.

I didnt say bad or good....I said "sane" and by that I mean we didn't give up too much nor did we make a foolish move because we wanted a certain player. Isiah is a very good talent evaluator and Grunwald is more skilled at negotiating, IMHO. Isiah wanted Jordan and Grunwald did the trench work. They both should receive credit. That's all.

Bonn's right about him not seeing much time this year. One thought. Isaiah wanted Nichols to play in Europe for a year. Maybe he'll try to get Jordan to do that. This is strictly a long range move, but it's a good long range move. There's no downside and lots of upside.

I also agree with Markji's thought about a multi-player deal. Our strength is our depth. If we can trade quantity for quality, that's a plus. A variation on this would be a player for a future draft pick if the other team has cap space.

An Internet junkie, he was obsessively reading basketball blogs, and his NBA hopes were revved pretty high, he admitted. He felt confident he could make it. "I'd have to be put in the right situation. It would have to be a West Coast team, that style of play -- fluid, up and down, and not the East Coast style, which is more banging." He wondered about the NBA lifestyle, he said, whether it would be lonely, how he would fit in. He sighed.

Seems like a nice project. As of right now he might not be a good fit. Maybe down the road if we change out style up he could end up being a solid contributer.

Small trade for Nichols, small trade for Jordan. Does Isiah actually have a vision for this team.

Curry & Randolph with Marbury at PG we are forced to slow down the pace. But guys like Jordan-Nate-Collins-Nichols-Crawford-Q-Balkman-Chandler-Lee all seem more suited for an uptempo style.

Stealth

Martin - two years ago I liked the jerome james signing because of his playoffs bright moment with the Sonics. The Knicks needed a center and not much else was available unless you remember some more gifted, more acquirable, candidates...

Today, after seeing him in person - I like first-round rookie bonus pick Randolph Morris at center even better

newyorknewyork - the question of perceived vision is a tricky one. Do you really think Isiah would leak his vision just to appease the media or the fans?

You may underestimate his smarminess.

He's so sneaky, he had his staff at work during the trial.

Da noive of dat guy.

Curious how this move is going to affect the roster. 18 guys is ok for camp, but who's gonna cut?
