bippity - at least you are honest.

Watching the Knicks in 2007 from Section 404 will be the most fun for djsu since the magical run in the abbreviated1999 magic carpet ride.

I can't wait for his Pulitzer Prize winning reports to start.

Book it Dano

this will definitely be the most interesting season in a while. to see how these players mesh and how isiah coach's them will definitely be must see tv.

with that said...the live from reports were fun to do...but...well, there may be something else on the horizon...stay tuned...

bippity - the second third of last season was bringing some noise until the injury outbreak

the point being, judging by the number of new threads and new postage, there is as much, if not more, eager anticipation for the upcoming season - and its new skill sets of yoot combinations - than any year since Patrick Ewing's finger roll rimmed out against Indiana

most people will never admit it though

I think most people are excited about the young players and not so excited about the vets. It's a fair view. I think they are also excited about fighting for playoff spots but not overly excited about the overall upside of the team in the long-term. Again, fair and not anymore irrational than someone who thinks the team has a lot of upside. It's just opinion. It's just that if someone doesn't beleive that the team has a huge upside they are shouted down and called negative. If someone says the team can win a title they are shouted down and called a lover. In the end those doing the shouting kill the site. All I ask is that no matter what your opinion is, back it up with something besides "because I think so"

I noticed that this was quickly dropped after someone brought up the prediction thread. Theory based on nothing but the voices in your head.

Common trend here. They need to make the MBTI part of the signup process.

bippity - why segregate young and old dudes? Hell, even Kareem never played with any outward joy until Magic showed up.

My spider sense tells me that between the innocence (mixed with the confidence bred in Las Vegas) and new skill sets, da NYK yoots just may infect the older dudes with an undiscovered strain of good hoops virus

competition si

complacency no

Why not? Should I judge each player seperately or dump them all into one lump sum. If Curry is a good post up player does that mean Nate is too?..........I tend that judging each guy seperately is called being fair. No?

I don't know why you couldn't take it for what it was: a discussion. Instead you got all bent out of shape because you misunderstood the intent.

You don't separate players into individual compartments because basketball, unlike baseball and football, demands a more synchronized dance that five guys can cohere to.

Basketball is jazz.

While people spend countless hours kvetching over Eddy Curry's inability or unwillingness to play defense or rebound, or Zach Randolph's "selfishness" they are missing the fact that their skills will be affected by the other three cats on the bandstand.

You don't separate solo basketball acts from the context of the band any more than you separate John Coltrane from Elvin Jones or McCoy Tyner.

It's the combinations that matter most

Not the individual.

You're a weird dude. When I make preditions about the team I take the team as a unit. This is why yours and my prediction will be nearly the same. When I am talking about individual players and my exitement level of individual players I take them separately.

Here's what I know-Q, Balk, DLee, Jared will give me 100% effort on both sides of the ball
The rookies, will probably give me effort on both sides of the ball. I'm Confident they will but only time will tell. Marbs, Curry, ZaCh, Jamal I have no idea what to expeCt from them and Cannot get exCited about them until they prove it on the floor.

Maybe you Can, and that's great. But I Cannot. The vets have to prove it to me before I give them Credit for anything. HOw is that unfair?

You want players to actually produce before you instantly give them credit for doing so? STOP THE MADNESS!

Could it be that "talent" isn't all you need, that every team, even one packed with all-stars, needs time to gel, time to form a team system and identity? Its a fact that most anyone would acknowledge save the self-proclaimed "realists" of the UK Mafia, who describe this only as a "let-down".

Well then, how do you feel about the job Isiah is doing with the team then? Has constantly shuffling the roster and firing coaches helped to build that chemistry that you think all good teams need? I've heard a lot of "haters" cry for a consistent plan from Isiah -- I have heard a lot of "lovers" defend Isiah to death. The man is just so inconsistent. He doesn't seem to have a plan. Case in point: last year -- we're supposed to be running the "quick offense"... not long into the season, we're a dump it down low team. This year -- we're a "power team". Most of the "haters" have taken issue with Isiah because they feel like he is ruining their favorite team. I think, generally, when you refer to "lovers" and "haters" -- it is actually short-hand for "Isiah-lovers" and "Isiah-haters". It's not about hating the Knicks. Trust me.

So what is the intent?

The intent is to state that the hater/lover labels are stupid and is reinforced by the idea that haters and lovers have very similar predictions for the upcoming season. The point is that nobody is trying to destroy the board, and EVERYONE wants the Knicks to do well. But if people can't take the Knicks being criticized, when the team has lost for 6 years in a row, then I'm not sure why they're on a discussion board.

Your initial post was a reinforcement of the idea that our posts aren't actually read for content. They're read (if at all) so that people can later complain about haters complaining. Do you not find that behavior strange?

bippity - if you have a limited, or no, appreciation of jazz - then there is no possible way in hell that you can fully understand basketball
