Pharez...c'mon dude...you know that Jones and Dickau can't be traded right now either. Chandler and all of those guys are eligible to be traded September 1. (Chandler is eligible on Aug 27 according to realgm).

Yeah, I guess you have a point on Jones/Dickau. I guess really all these trades will be future ones.

What is the status of K-Mart? Last seen he and Karl were having trouble but no trade rumors.

This is not enough for Kobe.
For one thing, Q is a liability. Then not enough talent.

i don't think any deal we present to LA will be "fair" in terms of talent... the only way we can get Kobe is if Kobe demands a trade to NY... in that case, they won't be able to get fair value in return... you're probably right tho, another attractive piece would have to be added to make it work... maybe include Chandler in the deal on top.

I proposed a 4 J's for K-Mart deal a while ago to clear some space, but that was really the only motivation to it. I don't think K-Mart with his injury status is really a realistic "all-in" target.

I agree with your post TMS. I only have one problem.

I like Chandler, he looked good in summer league, but we have to remember there were alot of GMs that felt Isiah reached severely for Chandler so I'm not so sure his stock around the league is high as it is here on this forum.

at this point we need to just go all in & take the risk... since it's obvious that cap flexibility & long term vision has been sacrificed in favor of trying desperately at all costs to make the playoffs for a meaningless run that won't net us any championships, a move for Ron Artest makes complete sense & helps this team improve for the now... enough of the half arsed 1 foot in, 1 foot out type strategy... either we continue to cash in our chips for the present, or we commit to a longterm building plan for the future... make a choice already & stick with it & stop hedging w/all these wishy washy roster moves.

yup
I just hope that people will like me

Agreed. But the leaking of this info so early stirkes me as odd and makes it seem like it wont happen. Jones and Dickau can't be moved until the 28th of this month. Even if thiers an agreement in place, once this info reaches the fan-base of Sac, there might be an outcry and the GM of Sac might get cold feet and pull back. This leakage could also reach other GM's and might make last ditch offers that may trump ours. I guess we will see.

bucher said artest would be a knick by the beginning of the season, so a trade in principle could have been agreed to with guys like dickau or fred jones involved and then it could be commenced on sept 1 or whenever these jokers can be traded.

if you can get artest for junk, you really have to do it. you already got z-bo, might as well go all in.

Although technically a trade including Jones or Dickau cannot be made today -- an agreement to make the trade at a future date could be made and if done properly it would bind both teams to make the deal. I don't know how they do things in the NBA, but I assume that in cases like these -- they hammer out the details, put it in writing and consummate the deal when league rules allow it.

Cory (North Dakota): Rick, The internet is buzzing with a rumor that claims you said Artest going to New York. Any truth to the rumor?

Ric Bucher: (3:11 PM ET ) Good to know the Homeboy radio program by Roger B. Brown in Dallas gets that much attention. I spoke with Roger yesterday and said that I'd heard a rumor that a Artest deal was in the making, but the terms I'd heard didn't work under the cap. That said, Artest would love to be in New York, Sacramento would love to move him and the Knicks would love to have him. When you have three parties who want something, I have to believe -- much like the Minny/Boston/KG situation --it's going to get done.

Yeah you beat me to it. IMO This isn't as strong as the rumors made it out to be.

This doesn't seem as locked in as people might suggest. Artest is the best SF we can afford and complements the team well. I like QRich as the 2 (if he is healthy) better than Craw. I like Crawford in the second team running the show with Lee and Balk. They play with a lot of energy.

Perhaps....but if Artest is coming here, you can bet KT or SAR is coming with him. I can't see Sac agreeing to a package of JJ2, and 2 expirings for Artest. We have to be taking back more salary or one of our youg players (Balk? Morris? Mardy? or a first round pick) is included. According to reports the Heat was/are interested in Artest and they can offer a package of Posey and Wright which isn't that bad. With KG now in Boston, I cant see Isiah giving up something now that he probably would have done before the KG trade.

Really, what has changed since June to now? Sac rejected what seemed like the same package we offerd before. Why accept it now? Like I said, Isiah included something in this deal to make it worthwhile to Sac.
