Curry's Chicago Home Broken Into

New York Knicks ' forward Eddy Curry's home in Chicago was reportedly broken into early Saturday morning, police said. Curry may have been tied up during the possible home invasion.

Curry averaged 19.5 points and seven rebounds a game for the Knicks last season.

Curry was traded from the Chicago Bulls to the Knicks in October 2005.

"We [are] aware of the situation and are very thankful that Eddy Curry and his family are safe. He told us it was a traumatic experience. At this time we are aware that the local authorities are handling the situation," according to a statement from the Knicks

Something tells me these guys are flossing in parts of the city around the wrong group of individuals. It quite possibly could be the same guys.

Police and witnesses said two offenders held Walker and at least one other person at gunpoint during the robbery, Chicago broadcasters reported from the scene in the city's River North neighborhood Monday night.

Walker's agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed the incident took place but said he could not give specific details.

"He's OK," Bartelstein told The Associated Press. "There was a robbery. It's a scary thing. It's a terrible thing. He's trying to get himself back together. Police are there and he's getting it taken care of."

Chicago Police spokesman Hector Alfaro said officers responded to a robbery at a home in the neighborhood about 7:30 p.m. EDT, but could not confirm that the home belonged to Walker. A vehicle, cash and jewelry were reported stolen and there were no injuries, Alfaro said.

Bartelstein said Walker was with a relative at the time of the incident.

Walker was not available for comment. The Heat were aware of the incident, a team official said, but had no other comment while they attempted to gather facts.

I agree these guys need to close their circles a little tighter and watch who they floss around... This is no joking matter.

Tkf I don't think this is about flossing. People that have seen Curry in person never see him with jewelry on. He is a NBA player that people know and it is common knowledge that they have money. Curry is a person that most describe as shy so flossing is not his style. There was a doctor upstate NY that got robbed and killed in his house. When you have money you will be a target.

Curry has been around Chicago with the lifestyle he lives being advertised so to speak. I've seen one-on-one bios with him having jewelry on stunting in his rides etc etc. We have stars all the time getting their chains yanked off/stolen in/near clubs or somewhere within the vicinity of the city. It could have been at the time when these guys are out and about they have an entourage with them but are followed closely by these criminals once they split up and got to their homes.

Burr Ridge Police said the attack on Curry did not appear to be random but could not say whether the crew responsible for Saturday's robbery might be targeting NBA players.

"We are interested in that case," Burr Ridge Deputy Police Chief John Madden said, adding that his department has been in contact with the Chicago Police Department.

Chicago Police, meanwhile, maintained there are several similarities between the robberies.

In each case, three armed robbers wearing masks were waiting inside the home and used duct tape to bind the NBA player. And in each case, jewelry was taken, police noted.

But unlike the Walker robbery, during which the Miami Heat forward's Mercedes was stolen, no vehicles were taken from Curry's home.

Walker was also ambushed in broad daylight, while Curry was robbed late at night.

The robbers in the Walker stickup have not been caught, but a woman and man were later caught with two of Walker's watches and a diamond necklace, all of which had been taken in the holdup.

Belmont Area Cmdr. Tom Byrne, whose Chicago Police detectives are heading up the investigation into the Antoine Walker robbery, said they will compare cases with Burr Ridge police.

he Walker case received a flood of publicity, and it is possible Saturday's robbers in Burr Ridge were copycats. Sources said Chicago Police recovered "usable" footage from a security camera outside Walker's River North home. Burr Ridge police were reportedly reviewing security footage captured from a camera at Curry's mansion.

Curry could not be reached for comment Saturday, but he told the Knicks the robbery was "a traumatic experience," according to a statement issued by the team.

"We [are] aware of the situation and are very thankful that Eddy Curry and his family are safe," the Knicks statement said.

Family and friends said Curry was doing fine.

NBA security reportedly visited Curry's home after the robbery Saturday.
