There is good debate on this forum for the most part until someone says positive things about the Knicks and then here they come....

I think many of them are doing now, cuz they know this team is starting to look really good and that there's a chance they won't be able to hate on the team so strongly this season. So they're getting in all their good shots now.

It wouldn't matter what Isiah had done this summer, cuz these guys would find a negative slant to take. We look like we once again got some good young talent late in the draft and we get a 26 yr old 20/10 player to replace Frye who wasn't tough enough. They still can't be happy for the improvements. No one is asking them to throw a party but if your favorite Football team added a hot new receiver would you not feel better about the team going into the next season. Why there is so much dislike for the Zach trade is hard to fathom.

They want to bring up his problems and then you mention Spreewell and they should concede, but they won't. It's irrational at this point to be so overtly negative as if there's nothing good to talk about with our favorite team. You don't have to love everything, but surely there's something positive about the teams current developments.

Frankly, the lovers and haters aren't as far apart as it seems. I think where we hit trouble is the lovers jump into cloud 9 at the first sight of hope and it's offensive to "haters" who can understand optimism, but can't understand ridiculous optimism.

An example is, one could one of the following:
A) Wilson Chandler could be a good player for the Knicks, I like his athleticism, and I think he could support our core.
B) Wilson Chandler reminds me of Shawn Marion and I think he will be a Richard Jefferson.

A is mostly understandable, although the "haters" aren't fond of the "core", but for the most part, you can have a reasonable discussion with point A. Point B is ridiculous childish optimism, while even if it had some merit, is way too early to proclaim, so spare us. I find that more poisonous than anything a hater has said.

That all being said, in the end we're all fans of the team. If you want to keep the "haters" in a reasonable discussion, be a little more reasonable in the optimism.

P.S.: It's also no secret that I don't like Stephon Marbury and played it up a bit in a childish display the other day. I thought it would be funny, but I guess it offended some people. Even though I feel a lot of it was an accurate assessment, how I went about it was a bit childish, so I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

"Lovers" like David Lee as well so why do the "Haters" get him?
Exactly. Same with Balkman.
It's because the "haters" get pissed when Lee and Balkman sit behind overpaid crappy overpaid veterans or crappy lottery picks, whereas the lovers devalue Lee and Balkman enough to justify Malik, Frye, and Jeffries stealing any of their minutes.

Good post nixluva and I hope you are right. It would be really nice to have a good Knick team this season. I'm optimistic. Randolph and the rooks should do good.

Silver, I was just goofing. I think you're cool, even though we don't agree about Eddy.
I hear ya and I didn't mean to sound rude. It's just starting to seem like every time I say something positive I can expect to hear from someone about how everything about the Knicks sucks and I'm dumb for noticing the positive.

This lovers/haters stuff is getting really tired Bonn. No one wants Malik Rose to steal minutes from Lee. I am optimistic and thats a good enough definition for me.

I never use the terms other than in this thread. You don't need to tell me that the terms are overused. I was just explaining why I thought Lee and Balkman were correctly put in the "pessimists" group.

^that makes zero sense. because you think Lee should play over Malik and maybe one or two posters in one or two threads said different, you get to say everyone else is wrong? Whatever dude!

There's no need to defend what I said as it is unimpeachable. Haters should be allowed to pick players that should or could have been Knicks if not for Isiah. That stands on it's own merits.

Is this some sort of Jedi mind trick??? I know you think i'm stupid (for loving the Knicks) but this sort of obfuscation is not necessary. I'm not asking you to retract but merely to prove how Isiah bungled these alleged deals.

There's no obfuscation going on. There were 2 separate arguments that you can't seem to differentiate.

And that's so unfair, loving the Knicks isn't why I think you're stupid.

All right Isles, while I think that you're an A-hole I normally think that you're a fairly intelligent one. I dont believe there were two seperate arguments but if so please state. Also, you still have yet to state Isiah's role in any of the arguments...I know you can do better than this.

(1) "Haters should be allowed to pick players that should or could have been Knicks if not for Isiah."

i.e. Players like Bynum, Granger, Roy, Aldridge, Gay, Noah, Law, Jack...

(2) "I also think that Haters should be able to pick players that Lovers have stated are well within the Knicks grasp, based on the quality of the assets that they feel Isiah has accumulated."

i.e. Players like Kobe, KG, O'Neal, Artest...

You're welcome.

I'm glad you stated your feelings about what the rules should be but just for the record this is what you originally said should be the rule

07-24-2007 2:28 PM

Haters should be allowed to pick players that should or could have been Knicks if not for Isiah.

I guess your one of those guys that makesa up where the out-of-bounds line is while the game is going on or better yet has the temerity to call a charge in a pick-up game.

Go back and show me where I said that was THE ONLY RULE.

I'll wait.

Are you kidding? I LOVE the Zach trade. There's like a 100% chance that it'll blow up in Isiah's face. This team is now a ticking time bomb and I can't wait for training camp to start and the fuse to light.

Oh, I see Mr. Isles is allowed to make up a new rule whenever things aren't going his way. Ok everybody...games over...lil baby didn't win the game so he's taking his ball & going home (we can only wish this part would come true).

instead of just waiting for me to find more holes in your so called "rules" why dont you just hold your breath & stomp your feet or better yet go play in traffic w/Vicks dogs!!!

Next time state all of your rules up front & maybe somebody will want to play your stinky game.

I guess you couldn't find my saying that that was THE ONLY RULE. Since it's blatantly obvious that I'm right and you're wrong, you're forced to go into your "He's a baby" act, in a lame attempt to cover up the fact that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Just admit it Action, you inferred something for no apparent reason, chose to call me out for something that wasn't true and now you're refusing to own up to it like a man.

At this point a simple apology will suffice, or you can continue to blame me for your flawed inference and thereby showing everybody exactly what kind of person you are.

Your choice.
