Thank you.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

I think once you lighten up and take a step back from 7 years of your team losing you will realize that Islesfan is one of the funnier people on the board. Stop taking him so dam-n serious.

I agree with the post, he is a great player and makes unreal plays and kept us in the game but he does have a tendancy to play unreal than turn the ball over, take a stupid shot, miss a free throw and make awful decisions

He took two awful threes and made a terrible to, which is typical of steph in the clutch, but we were in the game for him, so you can't fault the effort

True, i know what you're talking about here & the point that some overly sensitive Marbury supporters seem to miss is that no one is bashing on Marbury's demonstrated effort this season... the problem is just how far is he going to take this team playing the way he is & doing what he does best, which is scoring the basketball? he's not close to a Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan, & even neither of those guys could get anywhere w/o another superstar player alongside them, so what do you guys expect to get out of watching Marbury putting up 30 or 40 a night & losing? what does that do for the future of this franchise? shouldn't the longterm goal be developing our youth? Mardy Collins showed he's got some game & can play successfully alongside Curry if given the opportunity... Jamal's proven the same... if we're going to center this team around Curry, then we need to be giving those guys more of an orchestrator's role on this team... we can't have Marbury taking most of the scoring load on his shoulders because that's when Curry gets disinterested & struggles to find his game... if Curry is the go to plan longterm, then we need guys who can get the ball downlow effectively handling the ball, not perimeter scorers who don't know how to make a low post entry pass... otherwise, scrap the whole Curry plan & let Marbury do his thing alongside a bigman who complements his game more & can play off the pick & roll.

TMS: I'm going to give you an A- for your posts today. Very good points. I would give you an A but that's an impossible grade to get if your name isn't Bippity.

I think it's a typical NY, rebuild while trying to fill the seats mentality. marbs has been fantastic this year but our focus needs to be on the future.

Marbury hasn't been fantatstic, he's been up and down and not a distraction. Give him the medal of honor for this.(rolling eyes)

Acutally I think he has done a very good job. I will say that "this year" is wrong and instead should say "the past 50 games". In the past 50 games he's given us solid D, solid O and some leadership. He's played hard and I credit him for this even if that is what he is supposed to do. What's wrong with that?
I credit DLee for playing hard too even though that's what he's supposed to do.

I'm just being fair to Marbs. I criticized him his entire career. These past 50 games he's done a good job. I'm not going back on that.

Marbury definitely deserves props for how he's played this year, but our focus needs to be on how he helps this team's championship aspirations going forward, not about how well he's playing as an individual.

I personally think your point is 100% on point and makes more logical sense than any post on this board in recent memory. If Curry is the guy that we are building around than we need to do so. If guys don't fit that style of play(which Marbury really doesn't) than they should be phased out. You should find a way to deal him in my view. But if you are unable to do so, you can keep him here and get the most out of him. Just don't make decisions with him in mind.

dj T.J. Ford next yr will be a Top3 point gaurd. He just needs to stay healthy and get a little stronger. It so interesting how you can look at other teams and say positive things without even questioning yourself, meanwhile with the Knicks we are bewildered and 100% uncertain.

it's probably b/c we don't really have a leader out on the court, and the skillsets of our guys just don't mesh. marbury, crawford and nate like to dribble to create their own shot. the ball movement of this group is quite poor. then you have our bigs, who rely on the guards, and they are not benefitting offensively from them. only eddy b/c jamal knew where he liked the ball, and b/c the rest of our guards are forced to feed him every time down the court. but there's no natural flow to the offense. and that really starts with our guards.

it's just that colangelo comes into town, gets 9 new relatively cheap players, makes one big trade (charlie for tj) and they just are clicking on all cylinders. i guess it will take time here but with our guards, i just don't see it really ever happening.
