Wow I hate this move. I know I know I'm a hater. If the Knicks were inclined to grant an extension at least wait until the Knicks season is complete. Take the case of the Detroit Pistons: Rick Carisle was fired after having won 50 games but because the Pistons were swept in the Conference Finals the owner found that reason enough to fire him. Than ask yourself why the Pistons are continuously in the hunt for NBA Championships while teams like the Knicks are barely flirting with a playoff berth.

Carlisle got fired because LB wanted the job and nothing else...

How did that turn out for them?

Just for the record Bonn1997 - Allan Houston and Shandon Anderson (along with Howard Eisley and Clarence Weatherspoon) were cited as examples of players that predated Isiah Thomas' Presidential tenure, and created even more damage to the salary cap than Patrick Ewings $68M final contract.

The cap is a funny thing. It forces franchises to trade paychecks more than talent. But what do I know?

I don't get what you mean by the bold part but I'm surprised you're even mentioning player salaries since I thought you thought they didn't matter.

Damage to the salary cap, huh? You mean the salary cap matters? Guess who did even more damage to the salary cap.

Yeah, the cap is a funny thing. If you have a manageable cap it matters. If you don't, it ain't your money and blame it on prior management even though you made it worse.

It ain't your money.

Only in America can you spend close to a 100 million over the league maximum on a crappy team and get a multi-year extension. What a ****ing joke.

I'd be okay if Isiah cam back as coach... but he's a terrible, terrible general manager. Considering Dolan's rule of where the GM and coach have to be in agreement over roster moves, Isiah would have had draft input...Ugh. THis team really is run by a ****ing moron. I wish my daddy had enough money o buy me the Knicks. Then I could do a bunch of drugs and force my employees to my concerts, and hire my favorite basektball player growing up to run my team.

It's been a long time between bootleg posts so allow me the piracy of a respected writer from a parallel universe of vast intelligence:

(and with sincere and humble apologies to brother rembee in a galaxy far, far, away....)

>>(spicy quote marks)>>

I said at the start of the season that this year was destined to be a win-win for the Isiah bashers. If we lose without showing progress then their defense of Brown was justified, Isiah gets fired, and they get the fresh start (perhaps) that they wanted. If we win and/or show progress, well, that would bring its own obvious rewards for a fan of a team desperate for positive signs.

It would seem that I was wrong, as nothing short of seeing Isiah Thomas in the stocks in front of One Penn Plaza and being armed with Dolan-supplied rotten veggies would have satisfied. So be it.

But what we fans get now is something we really needed, continuity. That’s something all of us, Izwiters and Haters, should applaud because without it we don't ever have a shot at improving. And with Dolan remaining at the helm, the fantasy rebuild and "Garden Cleansing" was never going to happen regardless of who made up the new management team.

So know we have a coach who has his players' trust and a GM who has proven adept at acquiring young talent. I could think of worse things.

But haters rejoice, regardless if we make the playoffs this year or not, there is always next year and that really is the tough part. Looking back, showing progress after Brown deep-sixed last season wasn't going to be that hard. But now Isiah has raised the bar and given us a team that, if it is healthy and continues to improve, should be a better than .500 team next year and gamely challenge Toronto at the top of the division. Living up to that expectation is going to be a lot harder than besting Brown's 23 wins.

To see folks so happy at 29-34 is just mindboggling.

Not nearly as mind-boggling as folks still backing Brown after 23-59.

The way Isiah earned his contract extension is such a smoke and mirrors approach.

Isiah took the player that *he* was accountable for in acquiring in Eddy Curry, who had/has major question marks and force-fed the ball down his throat so that his scoring numbers would be inflated and that would sway the fans and the owner, all the while Curry's rebounding and defensive numbers have suffered, which hurts the team. As I've pointed out before, Eddy's stats in rebounding, blocking, stealing are all down per minute, but the scoring, the only category most people choose to look at is up per minute, but only by percentage points, but who cares about what he's really doing for the team anyway.

So Isiah got an extension by making it look like the "FRANCHISE PLAYER" got much better, when in reality, it's only because he's playing the guy 35mpg.

Life is grand being a Knick fan.

Great. Rewarded for non-progress.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

So why do you think that getting Anderson and Houston off the cap, will help? Wouldn't getting them off the cap make the Knicks salary cap more "manageable"?

Are the Knicks moving out of New York?

Keep burying yourself in your BS misterearl.

Misterearl -- I admire your self-control.

I guess it's easy if you remember, when dogs bark at humans, humans don't bark back!

Same goes for when Dogs post:

sebstar - what, you didn't know that Eddy Curry was force-fed basketballs down his throat?

You should have been there the day after he benched his neighbor, Marbury, for lack of production. Or the day he pulled Nate aside after the slam-dunk conteest and cut his minutes.

And what about Malik Rose being unhappy with his minutes?

... or the day where Isiah made David Lee stay after practice to work on his rebounding.

It wasn't pretty.

We hate Isiah for being a "players" coach.
