Nice game from Mardy last night. Missed a triple double by only two rebounds!
Good things to come from him.

Yeah man the guy is playing good. He must be good right?

The knicks need a front court to match the backcourt. The Toronto game is a testimony to that.

Collins might just have a future w/ this Knicks team. Curry has been surging again with Mardy as the PG. Maybe it really comes down to taller/longer players feeding him the ball from different angles.

Collins seemed lost in the summer league, and was a non-factor for most of the regular season (most known for getting punched by Carmelo Anthony!). Now, he seems like he could make a solid NBA PG, dare I say a potential star. The general learning curve for NBA PGs seems to be 3 or more seasons, sometimes more. In his mid-late 20s, Steve Nash was still platooning with Howard Eisley! His trial by fire for the last dozen games or so has opened eyes around the league, making him prime trade bait.

An interesting tidbit is that Collins has a very, very good chance of getting the rookie of the month award in April! Certainly this near triple-double helps.

^^hey good stuff techno.

Its might be more than a coincidence that curry is playing better with Collins running the point. I wanna see more Collins. I'm also curious to see the team run with Collins and craw in the backcourt at the same time.

Collins' ceiling will be determined by whether he can develop some offense. He has the handle to get into the paint, but can he consistently finish and can he hit an open jumpshot. You could see that he was passing up shots yesterday, which is the smart play now since he cannot shoot, but if he wants to be a starter, he is going to have to shoot at a decent percentage from 15ft and out. That being said, he is the perfect PG to pair with Marbury and Crawford. All three guards can run the offense, so IT can use different matchups to give use advantages depending on the opponent.

Mardy could be the answer everybody has been asking about , a pass first pg that can play defense.

My question is why didn't he get run when everyone was healthy.

Lee Collins, curry crawford , marbury, frye, nate, jeffries francis ?????
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Mardy is the future. Specially for the type of guards we have in this roster. A bunch of short, shoot me PGs (Jamal plays small). Our future depends on how hard Mardy, The Balkster and DLee works in the summer. DLee's shot seems to be coming along. Balkman needs to buy a shot and Mardy just needs confidence.

Everyone who said that Mardy is helping Curry, I agree with. I watched a game on TVU the other day and Mardy had no problem getting Curry the ball. As a matter of fact, Curry was reluctant to make a move, passed back out to Mardy and Mardy had a TO trying to get it back into him the third time. I think curry needs to become more aggressive, but it's better for him to be careful because of his problems with offensive fouls.

I have no problem with Mardy running the offense with Steph. Steph needs to be out there scoring the ball. He's too good at that too pass on him. Mardy is a very good distributor for a rookie. Like one poster said, point guards take time to develop. Well, if that's true, look out NY because Mardy is doing EXCELLENT for a rookie. Remember Felton last year? I'm comfortable and confident with him being our future pg.

I think it's better to have a leader who can distribute the rock and score here and there, rather than someone like Steph who is more of a scorer. But steph had a pretty good year, and I'd only get rid of him for a very very good caliber player (interior player). Maybe a package of Steph and Frye for ???

Future is looking good, just want to get over this next draft after the Bulls get ???

ps - Given minutes Mardy is going to have a couple of triple doubles a month, if not more.

TechnoMaster - thank you for the perspective. The best analogy is the amount of time, with few exceptions, it takes an NFL quarterback to learn leadership after college.

Mardy Collins was not the sexy pick on anyone's radar... but with his ability to fill three major stat columns... suddenly the images of a BBC are dancing in my head again.

6'6 Mardy and 6'5 Jamal

6'6 Mardy and 6'7 Renaldo Balkman as Doug Christie without the jumper

6'6 Mardy and the next shocker of a draft pick up Isiah's sleeve

Mardy is a nice player. Kudos to him for working hard to get the most out of his talent. He was drafted very late in the first round of a weak draft. Players like that usually don't stay in the league very long. Collins will have a very long career and will always contribute, though not at the level of a Walt Frazier. He just doesn't have Clyde's skills.

Ira - but Mardy COULD go out and cop a few full-length furs and a wide brim hat just to give the press something to write about....

...some suede Pumas might look on Mardy.

... all that really matters is that Mardy cuts his turnovers and learns to find a comfortable spot on the floor to get his shot...

I have been saying for much of the season, based upon the flashes of skill seen from Mardy, that he has a chance to be pretty good. I find it interesting that some now are changing their tune. You'll here no complaints from me on that matter, but I think some have selectively ignored some aspects of his game that have shown us he's got more potential than a 3rd string PG/borderline NBA player some have been saying all season.

Now that Collins is gettig more burn, I have a better feel for his game and am readily to admit I was wrong in comparing himto Frank Williams. Mardy has more upside than Frank. Mardys' lengnth is inriguing because in not only allows him to play the passing lanes and come up with deflections'steals, but it allows him to get boards aswell.

As everyone has already mentioned he needs to work on the j, and i would also like to see him draw and dish a little more as to get easier baskets for his teamates rather than just initiating the offensive set.

"He's a smooth player," said Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski of Collins, comparing the 6-foot-6 guard to former Knicks star Walt Frazier. Collins is one of the better players we've played against in the last couple years. We put good pressure on the ball and thought we might be able to wear him out. He didn't get worn out. He was just there all the time. He's a really, really good player - and I've seen good players... He's going to be a hell of a player for a long time."

At one point, Collins was considered a late lottery pick. Temple has a pretty bad program right now and he didn't get much spotlight, but the consesus seems to be that, while not flashy, he'll be in the league a long time.

If Collins growth is substansial over the summer, I hope it pushes LoserBury out of the door.

yeah, another nice game, another close miss at a triple double. Didn't shoot so great (6/20) but is playing very good considering that so many guys are out. Got a few steals too.

I didn't know he'd be so good at this point in time, but I did say, "look at his college #'s, that's not a fluke". He see's the floor very very well. Just work on that jumper... and trust me, he will. Kid got game.

Another good game from Collins. One thing he's shown is that he's pretty consistent for a rookie. I like that.

whoa, let's slow our row here. i am also impressed with collins work but i don't think he will be a potential all-star. he could be a solid starter in the image of mckie or snow in his prime. at his best, he reminds me of derek harper but these are flashes. we need to see next year. i do not want another disappointment like we had the past ten years claiming our pick will be an all-star. we said that about john wallace, walter mccarty, dontae jones, lavor postell, mike sweetney, majiec ( however you spell his name) lampe, lavor postell, frank williams ( who played eerily alike) and the list goes on ( we might have to put frye and robinson on that list).

yea slow down. the same people before who flamed me and said "no, he's borderline NBDL talent" are now going the other way extreme and saying he'll be Clyde Frazier?? the kid's got skills, give him a season to show us what he can and cant do!
