Nas said it. Hip Hop is dead.
Hip-hop has been dead since Big Pun died. I'd say that's around 2000-2001. Something like that.
Nas had a big part in killing it. I hate nas by the way and for your information he wasn't the first to say hip-hop was dead. Please don't make that hypocrite into a prophet. This idiot is not Jimmy Hendrix of rap or the bob marley or whoever.
Fuck nas.
This message has been brought to you by the good folks at eny-hop. If you think you know you have now idea.
Thank you.
(I'm trying to catch up with this post bare with me)
damn, eny, i remember the last time we posted about hip hop you hated nas. i can understand if you don't like his music, especially now but there is definately some hatred. why may i ask? anyway, i do agree with the "bright spots" of rap. i love talib kweli and mos ( though i heard the last album from def wasn't good). lupe fiasco's stuff i heard so far is good by i am still apprehensive with buying the cd. the last cd i bought was nas and i was GREATLY disappointed. i do like kanye west since he is something very different and his beats are good ( you can tell he was influenced by rza, marley and prince paul). someone did say the right thing about consciuos rap do not sell unfortunately. look at the group little brother. they are strictly underground and hardly anyone has heard of them. kweli hasn't had a hit since "get by" four years ago but released two good albums since then. there has to be a shake up. it has always happen since the beginning of hip hop with the breaking music to golden age music to gangsta rap to crunk music. the problem is that i do not see it anytime soon.
note: enyspree, i am with you about the boot camp click. on my way to work, the cipher sounds mix show played two joints from smif and wesson and the fab five. very underrated group indeed. dipset should thank them for the model they laid for them.
