You do realize that the Rockets are a only game and a half behind the Spurs right now.

yeah 10 1/2 games out of first with two ten ten players...yes I do realize this...Spur are have a bad year by their standards for your guide...

Yao has played 27 games this year.
McGrady has played 44 games this year.

The team is 33-19 even though their "two top 10" players have missed a combined 33 games. What a dispicable coaching job Van Gundy is doing and has done. How can he even look the Rockets fans in the eyes.

Now Van Gundy is a guru for winning 33 games???...Isiah won 48 games his third...How come he doesn't get the love and praise Van Gundy gets with two ten ten players...

he would never come back here without an iron clad $50 mil deal. as any coach that has some clout in the league. this is isiah's ship. the next coach, if there is one, will be an nba 1st timer or someone recycled (and probably unsuccessful).

Houston is still the best defensive team (% wise) in the league with 86 year old Mount Mutombo in the middle, Juwanna man beside him and Rafer "Fukc it" Alston in and out of the local psych ward.

Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

Van Gundy has won more than 48 games 4 times and they are well on their way to doing it again this year to make it 5.

and one of the worst offensive teams with some of the best offensive players in the league as well...i guess we just described Jeff Van Gundy...

Holfresh you are severely mistaken.
Houston averages 95.9ppg offensively and gives up 90.3ppg defensively. That 5.6+/- margin puts them at 4th best in the league.

GIVE IT UP.

Yea your probably and listen don't laugh when I say this but I wouldn't mind seeing the Knicks give someone like a Charlie Ward or Mario Elie coaching the Knicks.

Hey when was the last time Isiah took a team to the NBA Finals? Remember the Houston has Rafer Alston as their starting point guard that should tell you everything you need to know why any significant success by that team is a minor miracle.

How did the Miami Heat do with their two top ten NBA players in street clothes?

Holfresh,

Tracy you mean Mr. Glassman; Yao whose missed significant games this season and last season. Yea its great if you have 2 top ten players but what good do they do sitting on the sideline in suits?

Besides I've always felt that Tracy was very overrated. That team has been revolving around his errant shot selection since he joined that organization.

Keep in mind having the fifth best record with your two superstars missing over 30 games is hella of lot better than 7 games under .500 in a incredibly weak conference with a even weaker division.

I for one would welcome JVG...

Hell, I would welcome Riles!

I just enjoy the culture of defensive-minded coaches, and coaches who care more for discipline than coddling.

But then again, I'm also an LB apologist, so go figure, what do I know?

I just want the work ethic back. I want to clone David Lee in 5 different sizes.

I think if Houston had managed to win another game or two and/or knock off Dallas once JVG would be a serious COTY candidate.

Yes, Yao is a great player and McGrady is a near-great player (just too inconsistent, IMO) but the rest of the team is spotty. Battier has plenty of game but you can't lean on him for scoring and he's undersized at times when he has to guard big PFs. They rest of the team is, basically, leftovers. McGrady and Yao are playing the best ball of their careers (when they aren't injured) and JVG deserves some credit for that. However, it's his work with the leftovers that's amazing. The role players play great team ball and JVG has structured their play to take advantage of their strengths, minimize their weakness, and generally end up stronger as a team than the sum of their parts. There have times this year when Houston has played like a great, tight, mid-major college team--and they've managed to win while being completely outclassed talent-wise.

I'd LOVE to see what JVG would do with this team. It's hard to imagine how it might work I suspect even this group would be playing real team ball by this time in the season if JVG was the coach. Would they win more games at this point? Dunno.

Mc Grady playing the best ball of his career????...In 2003 he averaged 32 pts 6.5 boards and 5.5 asst 1.7 steal...This is arguably his worst in the last 6 years

JVG coach of the year??...Did Avery Johnson, Mike D'Antonio, Jerry Sloan,Byron Scott,Greg Pop suddenly became in eligible?
