Isiah will never give an honest assessment about his team.

THANK YOU...... why are some of you so blind to this?

What would the point be? If he gave this "honest assessment" how does that help anybody but our opponents? You want him to make everything a big deal, he made FTs a big deal because you can't coach a guy missing his FTs. He's not going to come out and say Curry sucks at defense. What is with you people?

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Why do you guys micro-analyze every mi-nute word Isiah utters is beyond me. Who cares what he says to the press. I doubt he's in the lockerroom before the game holding hands with his players singing hymns about how great Kobe is.

Exactly! When Brown went to the press, it was bad mouth competition with starbury and you saw what that ended up being. Now that someone like Zeke is trying to at least handle the press, he's painted as some kind of 'your better than us' guy. Okay, maybe the words can be a little better, but his way of talking to the press is a lot better than how Brown handled it last year. Personally, I don't even think any of the guys in the locker room care what he says. He might not give them good points, but he's not knocking the players either, which is much more important. Now if the Knicks go out and man handle several teams, then you guys would see Zeke give our guys good points. So I think they have to earn it.
I'll never trust this' team again.

why does it matter at all what brown says? i didn't like him calling one of my favorite knicks at the time "delusional" and thought he and marbury were childish that year.

but there's more than one wrong way to skin a cat.

remember layden's "we like this team"? i hated that too, even though it was the anti-LB.

is it possible that IT's handling of the *fans* through the media is a little disrespectful? i don't want to hear about how great the other team is. i don't want to hear about how we could have won if we hit free throws. i want to hear whatever he can tell us about game plan, tell me my team is up for the challenge and will play hard. i won't get what i want all the time, but i also don't want a litany of pre-emptive excuses. like the arenas kiss-up. we won that game, right? IT should be ashamed he voiced any doubts at all.

IF Isiah instead of kissing uyp to arenas told everyone the game plan was to send constant doubles at him and say we'd play hard... wouldn't that tip off the wizards and also get them to say," we're gonna play hard too and now we know their gameplan."

Stop being such a woman! Isiah owes the fans nothing in the way of gameplan and media niceties. Get over it.

Isiah just sounds like hes ****nig acting every time he talks to the media it just annoys the hell out of me.. There is a way to be honest and real without bashing your players! you dont have to say "Eddy Curry sucks at defense" but you could say "we are working with Eddy to improve on the defensive end, he knows its something we want him to improve and hes more than willing to work at it" even if THATS not true.. it sure sounds a whole lot better than "the other teams are really good.. we probobly cant win" which is basically what he always says.

See you guys think im trying to get Isiah to bash his players in the media.. but really its the EXACT OPPOSITE. Dont BASH them.. but dont make EXCUSES for them EITHER!!!!!!!!! Just be godamn neutral.. Look at how Lawrence Frank handles the media, he is one of the best.. He is jsut straight up honest and SMART.. he actually makes sense and talks real basketball... godamn man yall act like i want isiah to diss eddy.. NO!!!!!!!!! (kicks table)

Stop CARING so damn much if it annoys you so. You critique his in-game substitutions so now its abvious you have to critique his post-game conferences. Just admit you're being a demanding perfectionist and that your toilet training took place at gunpoint. The man has his own way of doing stuff. If it bothers you turn the sound off, don't watch the post-game. Sheesh. Some people care too much about useless stuff.

look, i don't think it *matters*. i don't cry myself to sleep over what IT says in the press. but i'm a fan and would like to think a pretty knowledgable one at that. i would love to hear some kind of meaningful analysis or insight, not cliches. it's a problem with the sports and journalism in general, not a particular gripe with IT. i have worse disagreements with our beloved GM. the butt-kissing of the guys i'm going to be booing in a few hours is just the icing on the fan relations cake.

by the way, the "it will help the other team to give away our game plan" thing is a huge cop out. come on. you really think that with all the wizards scouting and coaching staffs, they were totally unprepared for double teams, but if IT had mentioned it in passing it would have blown our whole game plan? he could have been as vague as he wanted. i'll take basketball talk on my own team over ass-kissing of the other team anytime. and i'd love to hear my coach/GM show a little faith in the team. that's all. but if IT does get fired, it should be over his performance, not his media relations.

i'd like to think the coach/GM owes the fans A LOT. wins are the main responsibility, agreed? he shouldn't prepare us for losses before a game happens. and the very least he can do is say nice things. maybe not what i want to hear always, but come on.

i agree, take what isiah says for what it's worth....which is pretty much nothing.

he's talking to dolan via the press and he's never going to really say what's on his mind...so let it pass.

judge him by his actions as a GM. all this other stuff is there for our amusement.

you also have to judge him as team president and coach then as well. As president, he's made people come back to the garden, put people in the seats. 4 years ago, there were no stars in celebrity row - none. Now, we've moved up to B movie stars and occasionally some A listers. Is this effect temporary? maybe, maybe not. But as the president of an organization, he's made the team relevant again which is supremely important in terms of commercial revenue.

As coach the jury is still out (can't judge a coach on half a year) but I'd argue that he's starting out well in terms of motivating players. We'll see if that equals wins.

Why do people talk to the press? Is it to have a conversation with a bunch of guys that have camera's and pen and pads? No it is to talk to the fans. This is the sole purpose of the media. Fans don't need to know all of your business. Fans don't need to know every in and out of the franchise. But the fans want information. They want "honest assessment". Never thought I'd see anyone on the planet put "honest assessment" in a negative light but somehow some of you guys do. I think if anyone is taking any of this too personally it is the guys that are reacting so negatively to my post even though once again they don't explain what is wrong with what I said.

It's completely fair. I do not think Isiah is a bad guy. I don't think Isiah should be shot, or strung up or flogged. But when the guy goes to the press he has to understand one thing. Give an honest assessment of your team or else expect a negative reaction from the fans. When I watch my team play defense I don't want to hear my coach tell me we lost because the other team was just fantastic that night. It's an insult to me. So either say "I like my team" and shut up. Or do what every great coach on the planet does. Tell the truth about your team. The players are grown men. They can handle it. As long as you don't call out an individual player there is no harm. The two most successful coaches in the last 20 years of our history had no problem saying it like it is. Jim Calhoun deals with kids and he has no problem speaking his mind to the press. And what is the response from his kids? They play harder. Then when they get to the pros they play even harder. What are we afraid of?

I guess what I will need explained to me. Without a virulent "you hate Isiah" nonsense response. What is there to hide? If the team does nto play d on a particular night, what is the harm in pointing it out? Are Isiah's responses to the press really a conversation to the fans? or is it a conversation to Dolan? What is unfair about the fans asking for "honest assessments of the game" the night before?

Of course none of the questions above will be addressed and again the issue will be skirted with accusations of Isiah hating etc. So not sure why I bother.
I just hope that people will like me
