Silverfuel said it.

Without looking at the numbers... and comparing what you've seen this year vs last, would you think Curry's a better player this season than last? Without a doubt, I have a much more positive perception of Curry this season. Last year, he was a lump that scored a bunch in the first 3 minutes, then was invisible the rest of the game - I think we could have gotten similar numbers from Big Snacks had he gotten the same minutes. This year he's a beast on offense throughout the course of a game and hey, he's out there on the floor during crunch time (and isn't a foul waiting to happen).

He might be a little bit afraid of fouls (so his defense may have gotten a drop softer)... but hopefully he'll reach a happy medium at some point in the future for pacing himself in potential foul situations.

The Knicks are outdone by their opponents in pretty much every category but free throws made/attempted and rebounding. The fact that we outrebound other teams and Curry/Frye are both relatively ineffective rebounders just shows that we have other guys on the team who are exceptional at cleaning up on the boards. To help illustrate... Krstic of the Nets has to fight 3 exceptional rebounding guards in Kidd/RJ/Carter, which limits his production somewhat. Some teams seem to set themselves up so that their big men do most of the dirty work and just fight for position/box out, and let the little guys clean up.

Say anything you want about Eddie.

1.) He's a great scorer
2.) He's young
3.) He is greatly improved from last year
4.) He's "threatening" to make the all-star team

Say whatever you want, it doesn't dismiss the fact that the man is an average rebounder and a pis-s poor defender

I agree with Bippity10.

Curry himself is not why we are a losing team Martin.

good point. Let me know where I said anything to the contrary.

They were outrebounded 46-44. Interior defense (and perimeter defense for that matter) is a problem. Rebounding really isn't.

Martin at what point does Isiah address this?

I am a firm believer that Isiah and staff are focusing on Curry's O and giving him a pass on the defensive side of things so he doesn't get into quick foul trouble. He needs to stay on the court to show "progress" (and by that I mean Curry, Knicks and whole organization for Isiah's sake) and get his conditioning up.

At least I hope that is happening, cause if they are preaching defense to Curry day and night, we in trouble.

He has 22 TOs in that span. That's almost a 1:1 ratio!

I don't understand the need of some posters to defend a players honor. Like Eddie Curry is some helpless maiden who needs a Knight in shining keyboard to come and save him. IF someone posts that his rebounding is hurting us and you disagree than respond to that. Why do you care so much how many posts are negative and how many are positive. I'm personally more concerned with why our record has been so negative for the past 7 years. There are some common themes that have carried over for 7 years that we still don't seem to be addressing.

Currys game is disgraceful if you really watch him he never gets a big rebound ever, never challenges a shot, never makes someone change their shot, he might as well be a shooting guard with the way he rebounds....

I love that he has the ability to score when he gets it, but when a double comes he is so confused, you don't win with dumb players, and Eddys dumb out there, if you want his 20pts and nothing else to be the foundation of the franchise we have a serious problem

There was an article in last week's SI about shotblocking. There was a small paragraph about Curry:

"Others choose not to go after the ball...Perhaps the most docile big man is 6'11'', 285-pound Eddy Curry of the Knicks. Curry has tremendous strength and leaping ability, yet he has averaged fewer than a block a game for his career and was at 0.55 (bpg) at week's end. Among players who have played in at least 25 games this season, 123 are averaging more blocks per 48 minutes than Curry, including 6'4'' Boston guard Delonte West. "He just doesn't make the effort," one Eastern Conference scout says of Curry. "He plays with his hands down, and he's not active defensively.""

This is why you can't just assume that Curry will ever become a better defensive player. Chances are he's not going to wake up one day and say "Hey, I think from now on I'm going to try on defense" when for 6 years he's chosen not to. Add to that the fact that he's clueless when it comes to defense and what you see from Curry defensively is what you're always going to get from him.

Curry is always going to be a one dimensional player. If he's not scoring and if he's not the focal point of an offense he's useless on the court.

here is what I don't like.... there are many occasions where a ball will be 50/50 between a guard and Eddy Curry and no other person from the OTHER team is anywhere near. Eddie will lackadaisically go for the rebound or TOTALLY defer to the other player and let him get it. For me, that's unacceptable. The mentality should be that Eddie goes hard after everything in his sight.

Dude, several posters have made it very clear that the defense comes next year!

LOL, that's classic Bip. The first person that comes to mind is SugarRay and he hasn't been around in awhile.
