I think Diogu was the key for the Pacers. He wasn't being utilized in GS - not a Nellie kind of player. He can score inside, shoot, rebound and even blocks a little. He's one of the better Brand clones.

Murphy isn't all that bad they will play him at center which will open up things big time in the post for JO, Foster can't really score and his only place is inside.

Murphy/Foster
JO/Diago
Granger/Dunleavy
Daniels
Tinsley

They want to make granger one of the focal points of the offense, but if they don't have something lined up i would be surprised

This was a deal about preference. Mullin and nellie want to play a certain way. They both have a history of run and gun and have played and in nellies case coached that style. Good trade for them, and now they are the deepest team in the nba right now at least in the perimeter.

Bird and Rick sitting in a tree.....they want to play a certain way. I think they are trying to clean up the Locker room. They also still have a deep team. They didn't get better talent wise but they may have tuned it down to the point where slick Rick can call the game closely. He likes to call every play. I guess he can do that a little with less flap from his players.

I just don't see how this trade is going to help the Pacers. To me, Harrignton and Jackson are better than all three GS players they got and when is Diogu going to play with O'Neal and Murphy starting. Maybe it works out, but I just don't see the logic in taking on the long-term contracts of Murphy and Dunleavy and giving up better talent. Ike better turn into Barkley-lite for this trade to be good.

This was part of Indiana's and Golden State's gameplan going back to last year...GS offered Troy Murphy for Harrington in 2006 but Atlanta didn't want Murphy's salary...In jumps Indiana who convinced Oklahoma to doa sign and trade for Peja which then opens up a trade exception to sign Harrington..Amazing..Check out excerps from this article going dated August, 2006.

Harrington's return to the team that drafted him 25th overall in 1998 was considered inevitable in front offices leaguewide for much of July, prompting interested teams to gradually drop out of the bidding. As negotiations dragged on, Harrington severed ties with agent Andy Miller and hired high-powered Tellem to restart the process. Yet reports this past weekend that the Pacers had squandered their chance to reacquire Harrington proved unfounded because of Indiana's $7.5 million trade exception.
That exception -- created in July when Indiana persuaded the New Orleans Hornets to participate in a sign-and-trade for Peja Stojakovic instead of simply signing Stojakovic away outright -- established the Pacers as the only Harrington suitor that could complete a sign-and-trade without forcing Atlanta to take back significant salary. Other interested teams included Golden State, Denver, New York and the Los Angeles Lakers.
NBA front-office sources say Atlanta's teetering ownership group, in the midst of a legal battle with former partner Steve Belkin to keep control of the franchise, had insisted from the start on taking back draft picks and/or cash as opposed to a player or two from Indiana's roster (such as center Jeff Foster or a more expensive veteran). The Warriors, for example, offered power forward Troy Murphy to the Hawks last month as part of a sign-and-trade that would have netted Harrington something closer to the six-year, $66 million contract he originally was seeking. But Murphy, who averaged a double-double in his past three full seasons, has nearly $51 million left on his contract over the next five years.

Spoken like someone who knows what that feels like.

Somewhere RJ is kicking his sofa he wasn't part of that deal...(San Fran)...I know it's cheap..

Maybe since Joumana is single now she can kinda convince RJ to switch sides?

HA!! If she really wants to get Jason back, she'll do a porn flick with Jimmy Jackson and Jamal Mashburn.

LOL! maybe we can get a special cameo appearance by Toni Braxton?

HAHA!!! I missed that response. Funny ish.

I think Troy Murphy can be a 20 and 10 guy in the right system. He and O'Neal could be a deadly combo together. Carlisle will have them play a slow half court game and they will be murder on the boards. Diogu will help board too. Dunleavy doesn't impress me much but Indy wanted Jackson gone. I see this as primarily a Harrington for Murphy deal. I like both of them. Who knows who will end up the better player. Harrington is better for now.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

This deal is great for Warriors in getting Harrington into the system.
But they gave away two very good bigs!

Murphy is underrated and I think Dunlevy is also. Lets face it, that team has not been well put together for a few years.

Jackson is a good player in an uptempo game but not in the Indy style where he is a bone head. I think Ike can really be the clincher here.

In a way, Dunlevy is an upgrade over Sauranas in that he is longer an can get a shot off easier than Sauranas who struggled in Carlisles system.

This trade balances both teams out.

Walsh has a good history of trades and I think it works for them in what they are trying to do.

That team if it can gell might do some damage in the east. Dunlevy is a good intangable player whom moves well without the ball.

Larry's next moves:

- get rid of Jermaine O'Neal, Ike Diogu & Jamaal Tinsley
- target Pau Gasol, Mike Miller & Kirk Hinrich

hmm, anyone sensing a pattern here?

It's quite clear this trade was a PR move by the Pacers.

Their fans can be brutal to the avg nba player.

They can't tolerate certain situations period.

They will be happy to have dunleavy and murphy, parents in INDY can now tell kids these guys are nice role models.
