Whatever man, if you don't know that MSG has the most competition for a venue out there you are just dumb.

I never said there werent other things to do. Many cities have other things to do but for a real hoops or hockey fan nothing else in the city is going to compare. Maybe you like going to museaums or a play. I dont. Thats why I asked you to name 20. You said there were a billion better things to do so I figured naming 20 would be easy.
As far as name calling goes to people who have a different opinion than you that just looks like insecurity.

btw, isn't it interesting that the nets, with Kidd and Thorn, are so much freer of the distraction of boos even though they serve the same obnoxious NY metro fan base?

Empty seats can't boo!

Do you even live in NYC? No offense but if you remotely had a clue you would know NY fans are some of the most devoted fans. Yes there critical and will hold athletes coache's ass to fire if there not getting it done but overall NY fans are the most passionate and devoted fans there are. How many peole can say they've been a SA Spurs fan for over 15 years? Thats right those fans joined the bandwagon Knick always stay Knicks fans. Yes Isiah disgusts me yes I booed his ass but I still love the blue and orange.

NO I DONT LIVE IN NY ANYMORE, BUT I DID FOR 21 YEARS THOUGH. THAT DOESNT MAKE ME ANY LESS A KNICKS FAN. I'M 2000 MILES AWAY AND IVE ARRANGED TO SEE EVERY GAME BUT 1 THIS SEASON. DITTO FOR MY RANGERS. I READ EVERY SINGLE KNICKS AND RANGERS ARCTICLE. I WORK HARD TO KEEP UP WITH EVERYTHING KNICKS/RANGERS RELATED. YES NY FANS CAN BE DEVOTED BUT MANY CAN BE IDIOTS AS WELL. THAT DOESNT MEAN ALL ARE IDIOTS. AS FAR AS SPURS FANS GO YOU WOULD BE SHOCKED.
Darn caps locked sorry.
Spurs fans are insanely devoted. They start their local news with Spurs stuff often. A sports writer who was a friend of mine Kevin O Keefe got fired because he wrote an article bashing Popovich. Many Spurs fans can say they been Spurs fans over 15 years. In fact my uncle was the Spurs team doctore for 16 years. Many go back past the the Gervin times. Nobody said people can never boo but there is a line like most things in life. When the home courts starts becoming a disadvantage that line has been crossed.

Seriously though you sound a bit out of touch. I am not suggesting you need to live in NY Metro area to be a real fan because thats not what I'm saying. Hell if I lived in a cave off the coast of China I would still be a diehard Knick fan. But your making it seem as though a significant number of Knick fans just reign on the Knicks parade every home game. But maybe this is just another of many lame excuses the Knicks have been using and its actually the team thats the problem. Last season it was the coach's fault, the season before that Marbury didn't have anyone talented enough to play with, and finally this season its the fans thats bringing them down. Do you see a pattern?

In terms of Spur fans I was talking about Pre Duncan/Popovich era. Besides your talking about what 10 people that were Spur fans before the Championships. Sure lets compare fanbase.

LOL calling some unnamed people geeks isnt the same as calling a person you are speaking to names. You should know the difference. If I said Blue Seats is just a geek than you would have a point.

Ive never been about excuses and I'm not saying the booing is an excuse now. I'm saying that it is becoming PART of the problem instead of being PART of the solution. Ive played sports at the college level. i know pressure. I know how it makes you tight. When you are tight and afraid to make a mistake you dont play well. The booing hurts the team by making them tight.
As far as the Spurs go I can only laugh because I can see you really do not know what its like in SA even pre Duncan. The baseline bums and company were well known in the NBA for almost 20 years before Duncan and company were winning championships. The homerism and unbridled devotion to the Spurs via not only their fans but the media as well started long before Duncan. In fact it feels to me like the Spurs own the media because the only guy I ever saw say a negative word got fired for it. I hate the Spurs. The fans drive me nuts. Every call that goes against the Spurs happens because the NBA is fixed in their eyes.

If you say so. I think speaking about an unnamed group as opposed to speaking to 1 specific person is totally different but say what you wnat. Its not worth my time arguing about. I have a Rangers game to watch and a car to buy on ebay. :)

Benard is just venting out on the fans because his binkie Curry overall suckks. Curry is making his support of him look foolish.

Every fan base booos if their franchise isn't giving their all, it's a fact. If anyone noticed the fans at the garden cheer for this team even when it appears the game is all but over when they see the hustle plays, effort, etc etc.

The Laker fans last yr constatntly were booing Kwame and Lamar Odom during the regular season.

GSW fans constantly booed their team last yr for their uninspiring pathetic play to the point the whole team signed an apology letter to the fans at the end of the season. Their fan base sold out the majority of their games last yr BTW.

Clipper fans until they hired Dunleavy was the haven of a disgusted fan base.

Hawk fans ditto until they acquired all of this young talent.

Boston fans are currently booing Doc Rivers and the Celtics.

Anyone notice a trend here?

And I think casting a broad net while "name calling people who have a different opinion than you" speaks even louder to the "insecurity" you hypocritically raise.

But that's just me...

It almost sounds like you want to talk about the Spurs of the past but yet you keep speaking about recent events. Of course the fans now are crazy and extremely supportive NOW youcannot tell me that the Spurs are the same level fanbase wise as NYC and just because your buddy/uncle or whatever he was got fired due to his bashing of Popovich does not make the Spurs into some sort of storied franchise. But this really isn't a conversation about the Spurs fanbase.

Let me ask you this if say the Knicks were a good team that actually garned fans showing up for the hopes of their home team beating them. Thus the gave the Knicks the full treatments boos, taunts, signs, the whole nine yards. Say if the Knicks lose would you say damn those Pistons fans if they weren't so negative to the Knicks they may have won that game. Well you probably wouldn't be using that excuse. Lets say the road record for the entire year was poor would that again be partially the opposing team's fans fault? One fundamental aspect your not grasping is this: in NYC respect is earned NOT GIVEN. Just because a player suits up in a Knick's uniform doesn't mean he's going to get undying admiration and affection from the fans. The sooner that our people understand that maybe than they'll get it because right now this whole there the victim routine is very tired and old.

right or wrong, i'd bet a testicle that if dolan sent isiah and marbury packing today the boos would cease tomorrow.

fans want to watch basketball, not the circus.

It would help but NY fans booed Clyde Frazier. The culture, atnmosphere and media is 100% different than some other cities. I saw the Spurs win like 20 games a year and their fans treated them like kings.
The worst fans in sports:
Philly fans
NY fans
Raider fans

oh right... San Antonio... where champions have been bred throughout the history of known sport, due to their loving & enthusiastic fanbase.

please.

NY fans are the worst in sports? i wonder what makes ex NY players like Patrick Ewing (who got booed in his day), John Starks (who's been booed in his day) & Allan Houston (who's been booed in his day) call the NY fans the best in the world, even though none of them have ever won a championship here? maybe they're all just planning to run for office in NYC sometime in the distant future & don't want to burn any bridges?

i wonder how guys like Mark Messier, Derek Jeter, Phil Simms & Lawrence Taylor feel about the NY fans after they won their championships here?

I'm a fan, lifelong NYer, go to some games a year, and NEVER boo, so there goes that arguement...

secondly, if what you say happens in every town is a fact I'm curious where you get such data to support your assertion.

I will say I disagree that we are the worst fans in sports. We're just amongst the most critical. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes I think it goes too far and gets too personal.

it comes w/the territory of living & working in NY... every player knows that coming in... those that are unable to deal w/it shouldn't be blaming it on the NY fans, but on their own insecurities & weakness that they're unable to overcome... tell me the NY fans would boo any team that pours its heart & soul out on the floor every night... it won't happen, even if they lose the game... they boo when players are F-in up or playing lousy, & for all the money they spend to attend the games, they have a right to do it... those same players who get booed will get cheered & adored when they're playing w/hustle & showing that they want to compete... it's the NY mindset... work hard & you'll be rewarded w/the fans' respect... that doesn't mean you won't be open to some booing from them to let you know when you're playing like crap.

Sometimes I think the fans are too quick to boo, but still -- the players need to toughen up. Otherwise, they are just not NY players. Carlos Beltran got booed and he's managed to bounce back with a great season. Starks arguably blew a championship for the Knicks and the fans still supported him because of his fiery play.

Seattle and Miami both have better road records than home records -- I doubt they are blaming their fans. They are probably addressing the true issues -- which is what our team should be doing.
