lb and isiah want the same thing from steph, something along the line of a billips type, but with more penetration. a steadying force who'd facilitate the offense and pick his opportunities wisely.
the problem as i see it is that steph just wants to go off instinct. doesn't care about the playbook. it's not that he's selfish, he just doesn't like rules and structure. he wants to free-wheel it.
I just don't think he's learned any other way. High school does that to kids. Some of these guys are so much better than eveyrone else in the leauge that they can score at will. The coach wants to win games so instead of preparing the player he just lets him do whatever he wants knowing it will lead to the coach's fame as well. These players get away with this through high school, a year of college(where they think they have learned all the fundamenetals) and then on losing lottery teams in the pros. It isn't until they are trying to make the playoffs that they realize that not everyone can be MJ and that they have to learn to play a team game(which MJ did as well).
MJ had a good base of Dean Smith go fall back on. When MJ was done showing the world what he could do and got serious about winning is when he started to trust his team. Also winning a NCAA championship as a freshman taught him about team. That was a hell of a team by the way!
Marbury's on year at G.T. was a joke. He was a real SOB on that team and they hated him. A very talented team by the way.
I saw him play all thru the A.C.C. tournament that in person and he put on quite a show. Being a NY guy I was rooting for him but by the championship game I was all too happy to see Duncan and wake forest win that year! After watching him play 3 games in 3 days you can see what a jerk he was.
