Anybody who wants here Webber should immediately stop complaining about defense.

folks want Webber here for his expiring contract not his defensive prowess. Let's move along from that idea.

So you want him here for his contract? Great. Then don't complain when he plays absolutely no defense.

oohah

He doesnt have to play at all. we could cut him and still be 1 huge step closer to being under the cap in 2008. We would be a francis trade away from that miracle.

The strategy is to indiscriminantly clear cap space to land a theoretical free agent in 2008(LeBron) who may or may not want to play here, with no eye toward winning in the meantime?

Okay then, If we trade Curry for Webber then cut Webber for cap space, then don't complain how we have no big man, and how terrible we are etc.

It makes no sense.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I would say I watch as much other NBA games as anyone here because I bet all the time. Ive seen Webber plenty this year. His defense isnt good by any stretch, but its better than Fryes when Frye is at PF, and better than Curry's period. As gimpy as Webber is he's STILL a superior rebounder, a great passer and has a good shot. He's also got some pride and wants to win. Curry just shows up (usually fat) and gives half an effort.

Dont get me wrong... I like the things Curry does. But we need to get away from the kind of player he is.

Watch a Knick game.

Frye is a better player at center, on both sides of the ball. Webber gives you a great defensive rebounder next to him.

People forget that rebounding is part of defense. You can make people miss all you want, but until you get the ball back you ain't done.

ya think? LOL... amazing how some around here like to separate them. I remember reading stuff about how bad Ben Wallace was on offense. Then I saw the Pistons play a couple times and I watched him bat 8-10 balls out to guards for 2nd shots and open 3's. No credit for offensive rebound, no stat, yet Ben created about 15-20 points a game from these types of plays.

When you consider that FG% goes up drasticly on 2nd and 3rd opportunities you would think rebounding is the MOST important part of defense.

If by people you mean me, I haven't forgotten. I remember writing that many times weeks ago when I was explaining about Frye, now I read everyone else writing it as a matter of fact. But that's cool.

However, people do forget as well that you cannot just rebound and then forget about your man. If you cannot guard a lamppost, but you get lots of defensive rebounds, you are not a good defensive player. If you are getting boards at the expense of playing your man you are not a good defensive player.
