The difference between Nash and Marbury is night and day. You can see it just by looking at Nash's response to the questions. Nash comes off as a humble dude. He might have a huge ego inside, but he sure doesn't put it on display. Why? Because huge egos are not good for team chemistry. On the other hand, we only know the tip of the iceberg as it relates to Marb's ego. If his responses to these types of questions are any indication, he's more concerned with himself, his numbers and his status than team goals.

why do you love LB so much and keep defending him with posts like the above.

I've been busted. You're a good mod, Martin -- the best maybe. How did you decipher my cryptic code?

Very clever!!!
I'll never trust this' team again.

Humble.... What an underated word.

When someone who has accomplished something can also be humble, that is when they are worthy of the utmost respect.

confidence is also to be respected, however a humble confidence is far more effective..... Not only in how you are viewed by your peers, but in winning.

You don't win MVP two years in a row for nothing.
you ar right. you win it for something. And in Nash's case, that something was a dramatic shift in the way the MVP votes were cast. Statistically, he doesn't hold a jockstrap to any of any of the previous MVPs ever, thats a fact.

How can anyone deny that the Marbs era in NY has been a 100% success? Look at his stats. Look at his shoe line. Look at how much his teammates love the guy and follow his leadership. I bet 99% of the NBA players which they could have some of what Marbs brings.
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

too bad NBA basketball's not a 1 on 1 sport & there's 4 other guys that any great PG needs to be able to elevate whenever he's on the court alongside them... Nash is someone who's figured that out.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

OMG are you serious?
What has Nash ever done that Marbs hasnt done?

Does Nash have a nickname like Marbs (Starbury)?
Does Nash have a clothing line?
Does Nash have a $15 sneaker?
Does Nash have the power to fire coachs or trade teammates?
Does Nash come from Coney Island?

Thats 5 things Marbs has over Nash right off the bat!

3 simple letters = M V P

3 letters that will never be associated w/Starbury unless he finally lives up to his own inflated self image of himself & puts his words into action.

The MVP is over rated. Its only given out to winning teams. If Nash was really the MVP he would have a nickname and a clothing line like Marbs

Don't want to take anything away from Nash but that MVP line is bogus. IMO..he shouldn't have gotten it.

In both years.

but thats a whole different topic

You have a valid point stat wise. But given PHX record, the question is could PHX have done it without Nash?

Not this again. Yeah, I suppose Stephon Marbury should've gotten it for valiantly leading the Knicks to 23 wins. Could it be that the MVP voters actually think that helping a team WIN is a MAJOR factor in Most VALUABLE Player. That's the only reason Kobe didn't get it, and it's a valid one.

Granted you haven't mentioned who you wanted to win, but from what I've seen here in the past, if people were arguing LeBron James, or Dirk Nowitzki for MVP, instead of Nash, I'd think there was possibly a fair argument there. The fact that the majority who doesn't like the Nash pick votes Kobe instead, shows a misunderstanding of the point of the MVP award (it's not called the 1-on-5 award, is it?). It's almost a rule that you HAVE to be on a team that has won 50+ games (only once was a player not on a 50+ win team).

Anyway, sorry for ranting, just when I see posts like this thrown into the fray, it gets me a little annoyed.

only one in history? who was the outlier?

in any case, i mostly agree. i have more faith in MVP voting than all-star voting, at least.
