oh shucks. Right now I don't really care for Marbury the basketball player but I strongly would disagree with the above. What makes you think it and what real hard proof do you have? If anything, his agents/PR folks pushed him into the spotlight. I just can't see Marbury instigating this.

Just one thing tho...If Isiah some how get this same roster that Larry had to 40 victories, please admit that Larry was the reason for the 23 wins and not Marbs or Isiah or Curry or JJ....I'm laying my balls on the line that things will get turned around this year...I just hope many of you Larry lovers will do the same....

Now you are really living in a dream world holfresh. Get ready for a lot of "I never said that", or simply a lot of new tunes whistlin' while dudes pretend they never held the contrary opinion.

I find it easier to say: "I was wrong." Less tapdancing.

I have no problem with I told you so's. As a matter of fact I told you so's are a wonderful thing. I use them daily. But if you are going to I told you so, please bring a quote. So save some of these quotes in "your documents" or "on your desktop" because if I am misquoted ONCE AGAIN or lumped into some category I don't fit in ONCE AGAIN I'm going to have to put everyone back on my list. And you don't want that!

Dear Larry's mistressBipity10. Stop whining. Nobody is scarred of the list. I think you are scarred of a list that you created. Gooosh.

oohah- so, if we win somewhere in the mid-30's, then does that mean that IT has actually assembled a cast of losers and should be gone?

If IT wins mid-30's games this upcomi9ng season, it means IT has produced a 50% improvement over what LB did last year. I think that is pretty significant so, no he should not be fired for a win total in the mid-30's. That would be unfair and based on unrealistic expectations. One cannot expect to go from the absolute sewer to Park Avenue in one season.

Of course there is the context of a season that has not played out yet, so maybe IT will do something else that will warrant his firing.

I would be happy with making the playoffs, which would be a hell of an improvement. I am expecting to see the team win 37-41 games.

I think IT has to produce at least 10 wins more than LB to be safe. More importantly, we should se some HOPE.

oohah

Wait I thought we were discounting last season. Last season was an anomoly and it was all Brown's fault so it shouldn't matter. If we should have been a 35-40 win team when Brown was here and now we've added role players and everyone is a year better and Brown is gone shouldn't we win at least 40 this year?

Once again we have all concluded that last year was all Brown's fault. Now Brown is gone. There are no more excuses.

I do find one thing very weird. Just another observation, I don't have an opinion on this. But some people say Isiah has done a great job of adding talent to the team. Then when the losses increase year to year some of the same people say Marbs' has no talent next to him. I guess you can have it both ways.

On the flip side. The knicks are a poorly constructed roster. With a bunch of overpaid, redundant, underachievers. The defense for everything not Isiah & Marbury is just as strong.

The knicks have talent. But its not put together talent. Curry & Crawford (to name a few) have great talent. But its far from put together or complete. Isiah gotta find the roles that each person excells at and put them in a position of strength. We gotta force teams to play are game. We have a team full of guys who can put the ball in the basket right. There for Isiahs job as coach is to exploit that and win games doing so.

So what you're saying is that as a coach Isiah has to perform Magic with the poorly constructed roster that he put together? Kind of like what he's been asking his other FOUR COACHES to do.

NBA basketball is not a sport where you win without good players around you...You can put losing on Marbs shoulders without looking at his supporting cast but you will be just doing yourself a disservice...Maybe you don't care about that...But there are many players who has the skills to win that has not won because of not having good people around them...KG is a good example...
has KG ever had a losing season? Ever? Got any other examples? Then there's that little tidbit about every team Marbury leaves instantly gets better.

The amount of excuses generated for this guy is mind numbing. He's a productive player statistically and never shown he can lead a winning team. Maybe this year huh?
Why does he have to be an outstanding leader? Why can't he just be a very good player who contributes?

Because he keeps opening his mouth.

i guess my main question is, what would keep this roster from showing its true colors this season? does LB have any negative impact a year removed? if last season was indeed larry's fault, then why does last season's record matter at all, to say "50% improvement?" shouldn't this coming season's record be all IT's vindication/fault?

Last year's record does count. The team was supposed to get better last year. They got worse. If you ask me their progress was retarded. They need to get back to mediocrity before the become downright good.

Not that there should be a carryover effect of LB's sucking, but the team is coming from a certain point (super-low). That cannot be discounted. The previous season is a benchmark in all sports and for all teams. The Knicks were set back last year, so there is a longer hill to climb.

I'm not sure what you mean by "true colors". Are you saying that they SHOULD perform better than an around .500 team? I don't think that is realistic. I think "true colors" is around .500. Then they can improve from there.

oohah

So in other words we have a build in excuse for this year should things not go well. We can all go back to blaming LB(after we fry Isiah of course)

matin, remember that press conference? that was some pretty hardcore emotional stuff. if steph's agents put him up on the stage, what poured out of him seemed entirely heartfelt to me. you didn't feel that?

Get one thing in your head everyone!!!! There is no difference between winning 37 games or 41 games. That does not determine whether we had a successful season. That's nitpicking. That's ignoring what is important. Whether you win 37 or 41 you are still a bad team. What is important is what type of progress we make as a team. If we win 25 games and every player is in camp in shape, busting their basketballs every game, diving for loose balls and picking each other up than you are closer to a championship than if we win 41 games with the same semblance of selfishness we saw last year. All coach's of any sport on this site will agree with me. Fanatical fans will think I'm a lunatic.

I did... it was just about the only time I could take Marbury in front of a mic. Very good stuff right from the heart. I just don't think Marbury did the whole thing for PR purposes.

I'm one of the few people left on this planet that don't really care about these people's personal lives. I just want them to play hard on the court. They could care less about my personal life and what I do for charity, I don't care about there's. Now get on the court and play hard like your contract demands. PR is used to sway those folks who care too much about these players off the court.

Nah it's actually from The Rock, Sean Connery's real line: Losers always whine about doing their best, winners go home and **** the prom-queen.

So now the real question is, which end of the line were you on? Were you the whiner or were you ****ing the prom-queen?

Thanks. I knew I heard it before, just couldn't remember it. In high school I was definitely a whiner. It wasn't until I reached college that I learned that if you want to prom-queen whining doesn't get it done you have to go out and get her. Ironically my wife was the prom queen.

Now back to the Knicks. I agree. Last year was tough. LB was tough on them. I don't care. Losers whine. Winners bust their arses anyway. Our fans last year said it was okay that the players act like losers. I am ashamed of these fans. Absolutely ashamed!

Not ashamed of me though Bip. Even though this is a slow summer for these boards, I am still the best poster and even though I don't have to post hard, I don't have enough of a supporting cast. Solace hasn't been doing his part. We need to make some trades but obviously it doesn't involve me Bip.
