when did Mo Taylor become a malcontent?

A black hole on offense, yes.. but a troublemaker?

I noticed the NY Post article about Brian Skinner talking about the apathetic, quitting atmosphere w/ the Blazers. I know that sentiment surely covers more than one person (Randolph, Outlaw, Patterson pre-trade etc.)....but to me, that article served as a critical reminder why not acquiring Darius Miles is a great thing. That guy has lazy, loser & check collector written all over him. So glad we have JJ2 instead of Miles.

fish.mike - Frank Williams was not ready for the NBA in terms of his preparation and maturity. Another below-par layden draft pick among many. Can you say Michael Wright?

Colins may not be as sexy, but he's had four years of Mister Intensity John Chaney and has a family to feed.

Besides, he's 6'6.

The biggest thing the knicks need to do now is clear out the glut of mediocre players they have at the back end of the rotation. let taylor and jalen expire, try to get rid of malik and one of the guards (preferably francis) in a two for one deal, and just let balkman and collins/nate develop in spot minutes. go with an 8/9 man rotation of marbury, crawford, q rich, jeffries, frye, lee, curry, and nate (and potentially the guy we get back in the francis trade) with balkman/collins getting in the game if they are coming along well in spot minutes.

and i don't see how someone who put up a solid 14 and 8 last season, and 23/12 in the playoffs is obsolete.

Because that's the whole point about our team. We have good players that can put up great numbers but because of the make-up of our team they don't fit. Jalen is a good player and used to be one of my all time favorites when he was in his prime. He can still help the team. But the fit here for him is not ideal if we are building aroudn a Marbs/Francis backcourt. We need a third person in the backcourt that can play some defense and a guy up front that doesn't need the ball. Jalen for us doesn't really fit. This does not mean I hate him or that he stinks. You guys take things so personally.

so? I'm 6'4... who cares. Mardy Collins isnt defending big east PGs anymore... it doesnt translate, but since Isiah picked him he must be great. Maybe he teach Jerome and Eddie some calisthenics

"Howard Eisley, come on down..."

fish.mike - you REALLY want Frank Williams back that badly?

And yes, if Isiah picked him one could make the assumption that he knows what he's getting as a potential pro basketballer.

Time wil tell.

JoeC - all the playuers you listed as 6'5 "power players" played a decade ago.

Welcome to 2006 and a new set of matchup problems

Bonzi is so obsolete it ain't even funny

13, 7, and 3 with good D is obsolete? Are you serious? I never said 6-5 was the standard, it is quite the opposite but there are guys out there who do it. Wells being one of the better ones. Joey Graham, Maggette, Harpering, Iguodala, Gomes...

Does Wallace at 6-8, and Marion at 6-7 have any business averaging the rebounds they do? Size isn't everything.

JoeC - read my lips. the days of under 6'6 forwards are over. There are too many problemmatic matchups to consider.

I don't like Bonzi Wells and his baggage on my beloved Knicks.

Size Matters When you Gotta Guard Paul Pierce and Dirk

>>In the past (in the PAST) Barkley was 6-4, LJ was 6-5, Bonzi is a 6-5 power player, Q posted up well at 6-6, Mark Jackson and Gary Payton were two of the better post up guards at under 6-4, Mason was an interior player at 6-5(even though he is listed taller), Ryan Gomez is 6-5, Harpering is a 6-7 power player, Aaron McKie was a solid 6-5 interior player...

this ain't 1996

>>At 6-8 does Ben WALLACE HAVE any business being what he is?

Chicago?

Please, I hate when people say that guys have to guard superstars. Superstars are unguardable 95% of the time. That is why they are superstars. 98 percent of the rest of the players at Dirk's or Pierce's position are worse than them.

Bonzi is the DEFINITION of a contract year player. I wouldn't touch him or Tim Thomas with a ten foot pole.

Listen, we already have talented malcontents in Francis and Marbury. That's all I can handle.

As for Mardy Collins, the kid is a ball player. He had the deer in the headlights look for the first 3 summer league games, but improved for the last 2. I saw him torch Xavier in person - he went for 30. He's just a smart, savvy player. The McKie comparisons are pretty accurate, only Collins might be more of an actual PG.

JoeC - go down every NBA roster and look at the skill forward position

Now, put Quentin Richardson on each of them

You do the math

In your opinion. Richard Jefferson is 6-7. Carter is like 6-6. Pierce is 6-6 and plays SF and SG. Both can play small forward and are not much bigger than the guys I am talking about. Stackhouse is 6-6, plays SF. Rod Carney is 6-7 at SF he was drafted 19. Hell, Isiah drafted a 6-6 Renaldo Balkman and said he was our SF of the future!

I disagree. You know who we play in Game 1? Pau Gasol and the Grizzlies. Guess who will be guarding him to open up the game? Betcha its Jared. Jefferies is a solid, versatile, long defender who can actually guard guys like Pau, Richard Jefferson, the four SFs on Indiana, Adam Morrison, Carmelo Anthony, McGrady, Jamison, Lebron, Maggette, Peja, Kirilenko, Simmons, Villanueva, Bosh, Miles - every team has a high powered scorer at one of the forward positions. There is so much scoring talent around the league and having a guy who can throw off that scorer just a bit, with height, length, etc - and most importantly a guy who is WILLING to take that assignment every night at tip off.... that's invaluable.

As a comparison, Jumaine JOnes is 6-8 or 6-9 and very physical. Most of those guys you mentioned are not 6-11. Equating Jefferies to being a good defender because he is 6-11 is wrong. He is a good defender in his own right, but someone who is 6-8 or 6-9 could be as good a defender and still defend most of the guys you stated very well.

This is a good move. What will define Isiah's term will be how he gets rid of all the old/overpaid guys.
