Marbury : "I wasn't doing anything wrong"

"I had to have it my way"

"That was me becomin a man"

"You have to stay even, not too high, not too low"

"I cant give [coach Brown] that much credit"

Interesting statements. What are your reactions, if any, on those specific comments?

Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

I'm never gonna get it

Probably not.
and I'd be surprised if anyone else would either

I wouldn't... especially if they read Killa's "Sparticus" post.
so if you have something to say why not just make yourself clear?

Because this is the precise manner in which I'm making my point to begin with.

Talk about dense!

Well I'm not familiar with Killa's Sparticus post, but since you've levied several unsolicited potshots at me lately I'll assume this was just another.

It's become typical of you to simply insult me rather than engage me in issues - probably because you lack the courage or wits to do so. If there's anything 'dense' about me it's that I once thought you better than that.

In fact I'll go so far as to say that early on in my time here I actually thought you capable of being one of the more worthy posters here. But as yet that's been the ONLY thing you've ever proven me wrong on.

Thanks for making this board so much like realgm.

I wish he would just speak in slang. I loved it when he said "He flexed a real hard juice card, I know that," We'd eventually learn to understand him, and he'd probably communicate more effectively.

I am surprised that some of you think that intellect is not required to play a great bbol.
Especially at the point...
Marbs is a good athlete and bbol player but he never will be great because of his limited abilities to understand the game and deal with people around him.
Basketball is the team game - it’s not a boxing. He cannot make it alone with iron head and agent making your money.
I have nothing against Marbs. He is not the brightest person, but people who think that they can build a team around him are really dumb...
From other hands NBA is a show business and as any show should have isn’t clowns and villain. And show must go on...

I'm deeply, truly sorry that I cannot live up to the standards of a poster whose only reason for following the Knicks is to find the next thing about Marbury he can complain about.

Is it that I'm not one of the more worthy posters here, or is it that this board is not truly conducive to fostering worthy discussions to begin with?

I am sure that there is a group (I know I am included in this) that doesn't care how he said it....but the whole point of what he was actually saying was dumb.

Why is it that you guys seem to think that Steph isn't smart because he's not a gifted speaker? Don't judge people that way, cuz you'd be making a mistake with some people, who are VERY intelligent but lack the verbal skills to express themselves perfectly.

Steph isn't stupid and in terms of knowing basketball he's sharper than some of you realize. I think he's more than capable of helping this team win games, but we have to stop expecting him to be something he's not. He's not Kidd and he's not Nash. However I think he can be a PART of a winning team. We just haven't had a team that you could say is capable of winning on its own even if Steph isn't playing. Many good teams can still produce some wins without their best. You guys exepct too much of one man and hopefully the rest of the team will come ready to hold up their end of the bargain this year.

help me understand why you think Marb is "sharper than some of you realize". Really, I don't know why.

Nice try, but I've followed the Knicks far longer than the few years isiah has enabled Marbury in sucking the soul from the team.

The former. Though you should understand your snide, cowardly behavior toward me is representative of the type that raises the latter as a question. As such your mindset, and the conduct which ensues, creates a self-fulling prophesy that drives the board down.

What is the sound of one Sparticus clapping?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. You're but a little troll who lives under a rock throwing pebbles as I go by.

Come at me with bball content sometime... if you're worthy.

I just don't think Marbs is that sharp and hearing him talk only affirmed that. This isn't the first time I've heard him speaking publicly, way back when I thought the same thing. What scares is me is when you watch him play ball, how he conducts himself on the court, how he won't play for certain coaches who want to play certain systems, won't change his game at all to better the rest of the team and THEN you listen to him talk and it really makes you wonder. Atleast thats what happened with me.

First off, Steph is a great basketball talent.

Second, Its not how he say's it, its what he says that exposes his tender emotional state.

Jordan was not perfect, but he was who he was on the court. Steph is a scowling bully on the court and has yet to get along with a coach.

He wants to spout off on any tangent with any slang is just fine with me. In fact, I'd rather him just be himself.

Its what happens on the court I care about.

Rodman was a fool, but on the court the man could play and was a solid teammate.

Well, I don't know if I should. I once spent something like 5 pages in a single thread trying to get you to understand why, if you're going to look at stats, adjusting for pace is important. Apparently I wasn't worthy, because I could not seem to effectively get across this simple concept. I guess I'm just a bad teacher.

Anyway, don't take things too personally my friend. I'm sure I haven't said anything worse about you (or you about me) than some of the things you've said (or I've said) about various basketball players at various points in time on this very board. So, unless you hold yourself to a different standard than those ball players, I'm sure you understand. It's just a game, and this board is just a bar where people shoot the breeze.

Perhaps you're a bad teacher, or perhaps we just disagreed.

I don't have exact recollection of that discussion but I recall it was centered around Marbury and his plodding style. Then Nash entered the discussion and you told me to compare them we'd have to subtract pace from the equation, but I said that would be unfair to Nash because a quicker pace is an asset he brings to the table, and an advantage he intrinsically offers over Marbury.

That's where the conversation ended. You never did answer that one... and still appear bitter about it.

I don't take it too personally once or twice, but this is becoming routine from you. It's simply an annoying distraction to watch you reduce yourself to the antics of the worst posters of the worst boards.

But... do what you gotta do.
