I think Isiah thought it was a good risk to take, because that risk was worth as much as an player to the Bulls. Curry is about as good as anybody in this draft so right now the trade is 50/50. BUt giving up another top 5 pick would make the trade a terrible one..... so that's where the knicks stand on the Curry deal right now.

i'll say it again - there is no proof anywhere that Chicago would have accepted David Lee in order to protect the picks. Paxson, in fact has said he would not have done the trade with protection.

this is complete speculation.
then dont make the trade. Curry wasnt playing for the Bulls. Everyone knew that. Who had leverage.. us or them?

Best way to put it. I'm so sick of the "Curry would be the #2 pick in this draft" nonsense. As far as everyone knew, the Bulls included, Curry played his last game as a basketball player. The Bulls were in a position where he had to be dealt, or they would have him sitting on the bench. Knicks folded their hand.

and its also not about Curry being better then the #2 pick. Its about the #2 pick being able to fetch us a better package/player than Eddie Curry.

Just riddle me this, how has the #1 pick been used by the Raptors. In a draft where teams are making pitches to draft down and out.

I bet Isiah would have too if he could have. Why on earth would Chicago have given up what could have been the #1 pick in the draft for David Lee? You don't have to buy everything Briggs says

ahhh... maybe they drafted the player they want? Is it me or are they now built around 3 almost 7 footers that can score from anywhere, are highly skilled and can defend multiple positions? Who would want that?

BUt giving up another top 5 pick would make the trade a terrible one..... so that's where the knicks stand on the Curry deal right now.

Mitigating factors aside, it was a ****ty risk. Period. A top-3 lottery selection can net you a player better than Curry either through the draft or a trade. We gave up much more. And as you pointed out, if we end up geting suckered next year as well, it'll be all the more horrendous.

What players better than curry can it net you?

Sebastian got Portland the 7th pick. What was the #2 pick worth this year?

still awaiting an answer code...speaking in theory is cool because you can criticize what actually happened after the fact, but until you can let us know what the #2 pick netted the bulls better than curry then you really have nothing to say.

If and's and but's are all well and good, but Curry was the best player acquired last night.

If and's and but's are all well and good, but Curry was the best player acquired last night.

First off, lets be accurate - Telfair, 1 year of cap space and a second rounder got the 7th pick from Boston. Shane Battier got the 8th pick from Houston. So while those aren't premier players, neither is Curry. In a trade for the #2 pick, I would expect players like Devin Harris + accessories, Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, Lamar Odom, Iguodala, Dalembert + accessories etc. Perhaps you disagree, but these are the types of deals I think could be available.

Second off, Curry isn't so great. He sucked in the worst way on defense last year. His rebounding was again atrocious. He was ok on offense, his turnovers were frequent and he was blind from the foul line. I would agree that Curry's ceiling is among the highest in this draft just like Tim Thomas has a high ceiling if he ever gets there. But again, the floor of many players taken in the first round are higher. Roy, Morrison, Aldridge, Gay, Bargnani, Foye and Ty Thomas can all be better than Curry within their 1st 2-3 years. Now throw in a lottery pick next year, Mike Sweetney (himself a #9 pick) and 14 million taken of this year in cap. Again, I'm not sure what up for debate. Even if we're talking strictly about this years pick, it's still a toss-up as to which prospect will turn out better - Curry or anyone in the top 8.

Curry's a lazy piece of garbage. I'd take any lottery pick over him. I want players who come to camp in shape and play hard on every play. (I think/hope Isiah finally figured that out in this year's draft.) Watch how much more positively Hilton Armstrong impacts the game as a rookie than Curry did in his 5th season.

Telfair trade will make sense when Boston is a league leader in offensive efficiency and they and NJ are fighting it out for the Atlantic while Marbury is not running any plays and Isiah is in next to last place in the East.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!
