First off, the Oak man would have never came here, b/c he has said a million times that it would be for a playoff team and not one fighting for last place...

Secondly, this is a guy that's been on some of the toughest teams in bball, and could help spread that toughness, b/c as we all know it, we have none of that, besides in Nate, and he's a dumb rookie. Some of you guys are rejecting that? You really believe he'd be playing for 20 to 30 minutes a game? How about I don't think so. He'd be here to help the Channing Frye's, Eddie Curry's and David Lee's of the world. Not to take their minutes.

No one's saying it would have been tragic to get Oakley. We're just saying it's ridiculous to bash Isiah for deciding not to acquire the 50 year old.

No actually I am saying that. Its stupid. He can't practice with them and hes not going to. Runnig sprints with these guys?

Well why don't we let aguirre suit up then? He's tough as hell and in good shape too? Why not Pat Ewing who we all love? The idea of using a roster spot for Oakley is totally and utterly ridiculous.

actually, I think Sports Guy wrote an article back at the all-star break where he saw Oak partying with Jordan and playing poker in Houston. I mean, why would a guy who is rich, living the high life, clearly always enjoyed the party scene, why would he come back to NY for the minimum to lose in a tense/suspicious/hateful environment? it's just so unrealistic. he'd have to work his butt off just to get in playing shape to play what 5-10mpg? you think he'd rather do that than hang out with MJ? seriously? I guess we'll know if Oak is still in playing shape if he follows MJ to the Bobcats and plays there.

also, seriously, doesn't he hold a grudge against the Knicks for trading him and for how they handled the video montage at his first game back in MSG after the trade?

I agree with you 100%. It is Stupid. And if it made sense why aren't ANY teams signing these 43yr old guys?? Couldn't alot of teams use a Ewing as a back-up for 10 mins a night? sure , but why isn't he playing? Because he CAN'T. He's too old and can't even get in shape to play a short time. Argue all you want but the proof is in the pudding. All these old great players are not being signed.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Because a) he's 38 yrs old--big difference 38 and 43yrs old for prof. sports b) he hasn't been out of the league for 5-7 yrs c) if you look at his stats, hes declining rapidly (joke that he always sucked) and probably in his last year.

age has no matter in that situation. Both he and other players are on the team for their off-the-court experiene and dealing with the growth of other players. Happens all the time.

Please point out where it occurs in the NBA, that a roster spot is given to a 43 yr old. Oakley coming to the Knicks at age 43 is a hell of a lot different than Roger Clemens returing to the Astros at the same age. But please show me where a player not named Kevin Willis has been playing on a team pass the age of 40. Ernie Grunfeld thought Oakley was too old when he traded him back in 1999, now I am suppose to believe that he is young enough to be on the roster in 2005. BTW, Oakley has been shipped out of Toronto, asked to leave both Chicago and Houston not just for his play but his negative influence on the team.

there is also proof that LB asks for players that shouldn't be traded for and asks for players to be traded that shouldn't be traded. GMs have to turn their brain on, just not say OK.

Hey, it's reasonable that asking for Oakly is a dumb f'ing idea, you agreed with that, right? You don't think Francis falls into that same category?

Thomas laughed off the Oakley request, telling Brown the club was rebuilding and Oakley's presence would only take time away from rookie Channing Frye. Brown and his agent Joe Glass did not return phone messages.

thomas laughed off oakley but said OK to francis? so who ULTIMATELY decided whether francis or oakley were on the team?

one guy would be here for a couple of hundred grand and could always be cut. the other has 3 years at $57 mil.

repeat after me: ISIAH TRADED FOR FRANCIS AND IS AN IDIOT!!!

Say what you want, Francis is a very good player, all-star calibur. And your boy begged for him and said it himself. Oak is ridiculous. 2+2=5.

Actually, guys like me and Bip have been calling for something like that (Except for Allan Houston) all year. Same with Oakley though. Has very little to do with the actual basketball. It has to do with giving the young guys a good role model besides Malik Rose.

He's definitely an idiot for listening to Brown on that trade
