I'm glad you're watching Portugal Angola Vdesai. Angola are of course gonna get killed, but regardless, do you know the significance of this game?

Angola is a country beset by civil war. The average life expectancy in Angola is 37. Most of their players at the world cup don't have running water in their homes. Oh and Angola recently won their independence from guess who? Portugal.

The mere fact that they are at the World Cup is a miracle. That's what I love about the World Cup.

Yup. The African teams have long been a great underdog story in the World Cup. The Ivory Coast played an inspiring game yesterday amidst their own civil war. This Angolan team has hung tough after a rocky start. In fact they nearly scored just now before the half.

Its brilliant to watch a sporting event bring an entire country together in the face of the toughest of circumstances.

Its fantastic to watch these African teams fight against superior teams. I can't believe they're only 1-0 down at halftime, and they could have scored too. Cmon Angola! fight the occupiers :-)

Agreed! I was really rooting Ivory Coast (also torn by Civil War which is stopped for the length of the world cup) to upset Argentina. T&T pulling off a draw on Sweden was HUGE!! Angola HATES Portugal which adds to the game. Also, I cannot stand that ***** C. Ronaldo. What a crybaby. Although Figo is a straight up dude! Portugal is starting to dominate the game now. I hope Angola and score to make this more interesting.

Portugal seems to be trying to sit on this 1-0 lead.

Portugal are looking very ordinary. Ans Silver, don't mess with my man Ronaldo. He plays for United.Yeah, I know he goes down a little easily (he realy needs to get that out of his game), but he is by far the most skillful player in the world. I have never seen feet move as fast as his, the kind of stuff he pulls off is insane. At least he doesn't feign injury like that pathetic pile of cr@p Reyes, but he really needs to mature a bit.

I think Angola are doing amazingly well here to be down by only one. You never know, they might just steal one. Stranger things have happened.

LOL firefly. You are right. He is certainly one of the best. Good showing by Portugal. Good game. What do you guys think about Czech and the US tomorrow? I'm really worried cause everyone tells me Czech is a very good team.

Well done to Angola. Someone mentioned on the radio just now, that everyone got what they came for in this game. Portugal needed a win and they got it. Angola got what they came for as well, and thats respect.

Thats a game im looking forward to seeing. Should be a good opening test for both teams. The Czecks also have a giant striker, Jan Koller, so we'll see how the US handle him. I really rate Brian McBride, he's a smart player and a good hold-up man, which is priceless in competitions.

Have you noticed that so far none of the good/fancied teams have really played well so far, (although I didnt see the Argentina game)? Im sure they will all get better as the tournament wears on.

The Czech team is really good. Its very balanced and experienced. They have some really good offensive performers like Rosicky, Nedved, Koller - a good defense and a great goalie in Cech.

Portugal didnt do well against Angola at all!!! With the kind of skills each player has they should have been able to build up a lot more preasure against an Angolan side, that was by no means comparable to great african teams like Cameron, Nigeria, Tunesia or Ivory Coast. Of course Im not complaining, they certainly did well in the qualification but still, I think that the wordcup is missing the "real" african talent! Togo and Angola are not playing on a equal level.

I loved the effort by Trinidad and Tobago!!! Great job against a team with two brilliant strikers such as Ibrahimovic and Larsson, and an offensive midfield of Ljungberg and Wilhelmsson (great skills!!!).

BEST GAME OF THE TOURNAMENT: so far Argentinia vs. Ivory Coast!!! Ivory Coast plays an energetic and fast style!!! Got to love it!!! Argentinia, well has a mastermind in Riquelme and a lot of talent around him!!!

Firefly...Argentina definitely lived up to their billing. They had to put forth an outstanding effort to hold off a very agressive and very game Ivory Coast Team. Riquelme and co played very well as a team. I agree with dodger...that was the match of the tournament so far.

I think the US is gonna be hard pressed to score today. IMO,they have to come out of this game with at least a tie to even think about moving into the next round.

We had 2 shots that should've been goals. One off the post and the other just off the outside post. Group of Death
