I know I am late to this argument, but when did Ricky Davis become a better player than Wally?

This is the first year that such an argument could even be attempted, and I would say that Wally is still a better player this year. Wally was all rookie, an all-star in his second or third year, and has been steady his entire career except for his injury year. Davis only started to emerge as a truly good player last year. Outside of that he has been talent and attitude.

Defense? I see no evidence that Davis is significantly better than Wally on defense.

Wally will fit in well with Pierce. Pierce will go to the hole 20 times a game and when he is triple teamed, he kicks the ball to lights-out Wally. Similar to Grant Hill and Allan Houston.

This is a good trade for the Celtics. They traded Davis, who is likely at his peak value, Banks, who seems like a good player but could never crack the rotation, Blount who is decent (Minnesota gets a real center so that's good for them.), and I don't know much about Reed. (Maybe he is the x-factor?)

The downside for Boston, and the upside for Minnesota is Kandi-ass. Dwayne Jones is a throw-in.

Yes, and Boston gets a white guy. In Boston, that is priceless.

On defense that is a problem. Wally and Pierce are 3's. who will guard the 2 guards? ON defense Wally and Pierce is a recipe for disaster. They need to hope to outscore the opposing team because that is a poor defensive back court.

I wouldn't be worried about Pierce guarding 2s. As long as he sets his mind to it, he can guard 2s or 3s as well as almost anyone.

I think Wally is a much more fundamentally sound player than Ricky Davis. He seems like the type of guy many coaches would dream of getting, b/c of that and the fact that he's coachable, and now he's playing some defense. But how will he look without Garnett. This is a big test for Wally. It's much harder to play with a guy like Pierce, just b/c he shoots some dangit much. But I like Wally, and I am rooting for him. So much for him coming to the Knicks anytime soon. I don't ever see Boston trading with us.

I agree with Killa. There's also the issue that Wally has had some major injury problems and is two years older than Ricky. Ricky's contract is also $22 million less in total cost than Wally's and Ricky's only runs one year less. Ricky is better, younger, more dynamic player than Wally and he's cheaper, too.

thats not the reason at all. Raps were willing to do Crawford + for Carter. Dumbass said Craw was untouchable. Isiah countered with Houston who hadn't played since March.
Prove this and I will call him a dumbass. Fail to, and I will call you one.

I did already on this forum on a thread TMS started it.

well i didnt see any thread by tms except for the artest thread and "our kids are overrated thread". i've also searched through google and could find 0 articles about a trade for VC that would have involved JC. But I did find at least 1 that mentioned starbury, and one that mentioned KT and others from 2 years back.

try Isiah trading "AH for Carter" or "Crawford and Marbury are untouchable"

NEW ORLEANS - Amid persistent rumors that Isiah Thomas has offered Allan Houston to Toronto for Vince Carter, the veteran Knicks shooting guard did confirm one rumor yesterday: he will be making his season debut tomorrow against the Wizards.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/260392p-222989c.html

Houston’s name has popped up in recent rumors regarding Toronto’s Vince Carter. But before the game, Thomas told reporters Houston isn’t going anywhere now. “There’s been talk about trading Allan Houston,” Thomas said. “That’s not going to happen. I like him. I want to see our team have a chance to play with him.” According to Monday’s papers, the Raptors don’t want Houston in any Carter deal, instead asking for Crawford, who is considered untouchable. Thomas also admitted he contacted Dwight Manley, the agent for Karl Malone but Malone wasn’t interested in the Knicks.

... However, the Raptors have expressed interest in Jamal Crawford. But the Knicks have
deemed him — and Stephon Marbury — untouchable in any potential trade. ...

All right - here's a little conversation stimulant. I think Kevin Garnett is overrated.

Greqt great player. Not a leader or winner. Won't take the team on his back in the 4th quarter. Pas, pass, pass. Look of exasperation when teammates miss. It's not the time to demonstrate your unselfishness. You want to be a winner, win in the 4th quarter, man. Shoot the damn ball.

Watch some tape of Time Duncan or Shaquille O'Neal if you want to see how it's done.

Totally agree. Much of this is because he doesn't have a go-to move. He should have perfected a hook shot. Instead he is a jumpshooting big man.

i hope beantown made a big mistake giving up marcus banks. then again, with ainge you never know what's in that boston baked brain. celtics still need another pg......hmmmmmmm (denver, hi earl)

i had a feeling rickey davis was on the chopping block (see my trade with kg)and mchale ties with bostons still count for something.

how could danny boy surround his young guns with kandi is beyond logic, unless he is trying to make lefrentz look good.

to top it off, paul pierce thinks he has a playoff run with wally

danny sees perkins + lafrentz manning the middle. i'm sure kandi was included for capspace in the summer.

kandi's first game in boston was bench warming 101. like to see how this plays out in doc's system

nice to see ricky davis playing in a system that will reap the rewards. his stay in minny should leave no doubt. check out the enthusiasm at www.twincities.com ricky davis hot debut
"It's who he is," Wolves coach Dwane Casey said. "That's what he does. He's that type of athletic, mentally tough guy that I've always liked from afar. No disrespect to Wally or anybody we lost, but I've always liked Ricky Davis' spirit from afar. That type of toughness is what wins for you down the stretch."
