How emphatically can I state that I don't miss Timmy Thomas?
I'll let this stand.

Perhaps it would be more clear if you burn him in effigy.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Omg, sorry, I was searching for another thread and came across this one and almost threw up my lunch... Had to share! Dear God, I'm so glad we don't have any more lazy, underachieving types on our roster!

KVH was the better player and IT was stupid to trade him for Mr. Unrealized Potential.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

We were playing well before that trade too. I wonder if Marbury didn't like KVH and that had an impact or if Zeke just thought he could do better. Either way, I will take the 2012 Knicks over that train wreck any day.

Tough choice, that one.

I was going to post a quick pic of Stevie Franchise, but why pile on the rabbit?

Just some more almost forgotten dots in the rearview now....

They both had very little left in the tank after the trade. KVH was probably slightly farther from empty. In retrospect, I think it's amusing that people had such strong reactions to this trade when both guys were non-impact players for the rest of their careers.

KVH and Marbury had good chemistry unfortunately Marbury hated him. Mutombo was a beast on defense that year as well. Marbury also good chemistry going with Doleac. And frank williams played well. Sure the team wasn't going anywhere. Should've never traded Spree but Isiah turned them into that team into a bunch of low IQ castoffs. Set us further back for years.

And anyone who ever defends Layden keep in mind he was awful at drafting. Trading for McDyess and drafting Sweetney. So keeping him around wasn't the answer either

One of the few times we looked good during the 12yr dark ages. Another time was when we won 6 in a row with Larry Brown and then we played the Nyets and Steph proclaimed himself to be the "best pg in the nba" and it was down hill from there. Trade Ariza, Add Steve Francis ughhhhhh

I don't agree with this. If you're going to say something negative about KVH, fine, here it is: I think he was not thick skinned, similar to Mark Sanchez. But he was playing extremely well on that team with Marbury. Tim Thomas finished in the NBA because he sucked and was an incredibly low IQ player. KVH stopped playing because he had enough of the NBA, getting traded, switching teams, moving his family. He left the NBA to spend more time with his family. You have to respect that, whether or not you liked him as a player.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

KVH was playing well the small sample of games right before the trade. My comment referred to what happened after the trade. What matters when trying to assess a trade is what will happen in the future, not the past. He basically became an injury prone 10 PPG player. I know you like KVH and I can respect that. But objectively, I don't think you can look at what unfolded after the trade and say the Knicks lost out on (or acquired) anything important.

I liked KVH because he unfairly got a bad rap and I thought he played really well for us. That team that we had would've done better than gotten swept in the first round had we not made the trade. Was it a difference between a championship or not? No, of course not. But we had a special chemistry with that team and it was a shame we never got to see it blossom. But what's done is done.

As for career, his role was reduced after that. I think he was still arguably a starting talent at the time he joined Dallas. He was 6th man because he was on a very very deep Dallas team. He was more than capable of continuing to play well after that, and he left for family reasons. You cannot say the same for Tim Thomas. Tim Thomas was an atrocious, knucklehead team killer. He was a great athlete and could shoot, but that was it. That's all there is to it.

Say what you want, but the Knicks did not do well in that trade. I was one of the few who said it at the time and I was right. Now is it as bad as some of the other terrible trades we made during the Isiah era? No, but there is something to be said about a team that peaked nearing .500 before trading away a core of the team that got them there and peaked with a 39 win season. Would the Isiah years have been more tolerable if the Knicks didn't get swept in their one playoff appearance? I think so. If you want to talk objectively, why not stop hating 8 years later and just let it go?

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

TT entertained us with that whole immortal 'fugazi' rant in which he bizarrely accused Kmart of everything that TT himself was guilty of. Also his nickname of 'Tiny Tim' ranked alongside Channing Fryes 'Charmin', as my favourite of that era.
Admit it, we miss Timmy Thomas.
