Every article on ESPN.com up until a month leading up to the draft has Frye going in the 6-10 range which is exactly where he went. That's a safe pick, picking a player exactly where he was expected to go.

Just like I said back on draft night. Come on Pharzeone, admit you were wrong when you called me out saying that I shouldn't be allowed to go unchecked about calling him the "safe" pick now.

yes, and the first time they moved Channing Frye into the lotto on their predictions was a Chad Ford report saying that he'd heard that Isiah had a secret workout with Frye on the West Coast and that Isiah wanted him with his lotto pick. Ford said he thought that was "a little high for Frye, but apparently Isiah sees something we don't..."

I don't have Insider anymore, or I'd post the article.

This is ridiculous nitpicking though, because clearly the drafting of Frye is NOT "damaging" the franchise and you can't admit that.

I might be bitter but at least I'm consistent.

And yes, Dumars would be good, but the second he does something remotely wrong, people will be calling for his head.

I actually like the future the team is building with the young players, particularly Frye and Curry. I want to see what happens when Larry, Isiah, and Aguire spend a full offseason with Curry. And I'm hoping they'll use the expiring contracts to get young talent to continue to build with. The fact that the team has a bad record 2 years after hiring Isiah should be *expected*. Look at how many years it takes most bad teams to turn around. At this stage, I'd judge Isiah by the roster not by the record. It's fine if you expected Isiah to get a more promising future than Frye, Curry, and the other young players by 2 years. I simply didn't and am looking forward to seeing them develop.

The fiire Isiah comments are beyond ridiculous. No, he's not perfect but here we are in December and some of you chicken hearts can't stand to wait for this extremely young roster to mature.

There is much more happening that bears some analysis and serious thought. The frontcourt is solid. Curry and Frye are showing signs of bonding. The small forward slot is problemmatic but David Lee is working there in practice and Qyntel shows ability once he gets in shape.

Who stole the Knicks mojo?

How do the Knicks fix the sluggish backcourt?

Why does Marbury resent Frye palming his head?

Where can better karma be found?

Give the idiotic notion of firing Isiah a rest.

Marbury's early season attempt to discredit him was seen through by everyone.

Can you give me some details? I haven't heard this one...

Don't remember Steph's exact words. It was something about Frye only getting looks b/c of him.
He simply said that on the pick and rolls teams are doubling him and that is why Frye was getting so many open looks. Somehow Bill O'Reilly found a way to spin that. Pay him no mind.

Steph went out of his way to meet Lute Olsen so that he could congratulate him on the great job he did with Channing. Mike Breen said it during the Phoenix game. McK1 is an idiot.

this is the same Dumars who picked Darko with the #2 pick, over Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wayde and Carmello?

That was a huge, huge error. Having one of those 3 could have secured a competitive team with a main attraction for that next 8-12 years.

Before Larry was available IT was attempting to build a young and athletic run&gun type team--the opposite of what we had before. IT really wanted to open up the offense and get up and down the floor. But he couldn't pass up the chance to bring in Larry this year--and I give him credit for that--IT seems willing now to remodel this team according to a different and better vision.

excellent post, knight. I agree, and I like the fact that IT i sticking to his guns about keeping the young guys..

How the f did he owned me. He stated that Frye was a safe pick. He wasn't and he hasn't provided any evidence of such. The fact of the matter was that Frye was promised the draft pick before June. It was considered to be foolish to promise a player a pick. It was a risk, it wasn't the safe pick. The safe pick would be a census lottery pick. Frye wasn't considered that. Most of these posting including Isles called Frye not a high caliber ceiling player. The safe pick would have been someone that was clearly like by all critics, not because he graduated from college. He use insight and judge Frye before the lottery. He made up his mind and made a promise. I can't help the fact that people finally start viewing Frye the same way Isiah did. btw, if Isles considered him such a safe pick why did he use the word marginal talent in describing Frye.

I think when Dumars made the Darko pick, LB had a lot of power and input into that pick. It was decision by committee. As Davidson slowly grew tired of LB's act, LB lost a lot of the leverage he had. So don't blame Dumars alone for the pick of Darko.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
