Okay, who thinks the Knicks franchise should mortgage the future once again?
Yes - Do a trade involving Curry and Frye for Kevin Garnett & try to win a championship NOW
No - Pursue the youth movement and win a championship in a few years

I keep hearing this insane reasoning, that curry and Frye will never be KG. Well good, I don't want them to be I want them to be the best curry and frye they can be, and if they do that, the knicks will have a team that will compete for a title over the next 10 years, long after KG, shaq, duncan and others are gone, calling play by play or appearing alongside Barkely and kenny on TNT....

exactly..

Knicks cant do anything right... so we should just stick to the one thing we HAVE done well at. Use the draft. Ive been critical of Ariza here because I think people hyping him as a young Marion is just absurd. Doesnt change the fact that I think he's a GREAT pick. When you look at the collection of Lee, Nate, Frye, Butler and Ariza over a 2 year period thats very good. They arent all stars or young Marion/Garnetts but they are good and play hard.

Just stick to that and in a couple years we WILL be in a great spot. No more old guys and cast offs. I love KG and if the deal is right fine, but I'm not giving up the whole pipeline (like you KNOW McHale will ask for) for KG and Wally so I can see 2-3 years of playoffs.

No. Shaq was traded for less.
Is a combination of Lamar Odom and Caron Butler really that much less than Penny, AD, and Frye? I bet most non-Knick fans (even ones that have followed Frye's good start) would say the package of Odom and Butler is a lot more.

I was referring to the idea of trading Frye and Curry - I would do AD, Frye, and Penny in a second because we would be raping the Wolves in that deal.

yeah, I slipped on that Garnett is not dominant statement, but I quickly retracted after seeing his stats, near triple double threat still.

You needed to go back and check his stats to figure that out??? I was pretty sure you knew very little about basketball but now you just confirmed it.

NO ONE did that. It's one thing to say he's playing at the same level Marion played at at the same age (like I and others have said). It's another to say he's the next Marion (which no one has said). Maybe you can validate your own views without distorting other people's?

I'll bet the aging Lary Bown would rather see a superstar and another good player here than a bunch of developing players.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Curry OR Frye was what most of us were talking about. Curry AND Frye is too much for me to give up.

exactly. can we erase this poll and start over?

we wouldn't win a championship by just adding KG. we'd be better off trying to build a championship squad around Frye and Curry.

KG, Marbury, Curry, Crawford, Wally, Q, lateral moves/mid level exception for some more defense and veteran savyness. We'd be pretty close!

BTW, the interesting thought is not so much the reuniting of Marbs and KG. What I want to see is JC serving up endless alley oops to KG.

I also think that minnesota would be willing to take lesser pieces than our twin towers.

stats can sometime lie, I heard a host on espn make a good point. He said look at the career numbers of Allen Iverson and michael Jordan. They are really not that far apart, yet are you going to tell me that Iverson was close to the player that Jordan was? Again, taking nothing from AI, but we are talking Jordan, sometimes stats lie, and KG will put up great numbers, but how was his presence in the game, Does KG really dominate games? just a thought...

Stats don't lie. People do misunderstand and misuse stats though.

Case in point: Iverson's career PER is 21.1, with a high of 23.9. Jordan's career PER was 27.9, with a high of 31.7 (twice). They are not close to eachother statistically, although if you only look at some kinds of stats (like maybe ppg) and not others (like maybe fg%) you might fool yourself into thinking they are.
