oh you guys . . .
this is a serious topic to me because so many people have been caused so much suffering in their lives over their sexuality.
at the same time, some of these posts are so damned funny i just love the s**t out of them!

all right, so my own personal unsubstantiated views -
i do believe that the majority of gay people have a genetic predisposition. a very close friend of mine said that as he looked back over his life he realized he was gay from as early as he could remember. his earliest memory? when he and his buddies made a tree house together at age 5 he immediately volunteered to go make curtains for it! true story!
as far as the "coach' issue, i would be so fine with either my son or daughter having a gay coach, assistant, teammate, you name it. i think that most people who live openly out have done so much soul-searching and deep thinking about who they are and what they stand for that they're a lot less liable than the rest of us to have to act out and victimize someone else. i think if you look at the cases with catholic priests these guys are deeply confused and repressed about their sexuality and i think the majority of abuses with coaches are guys leading straight lives who again haven't dealt with and are unresolved about their conflicts over their feelings and yearnings.
i say kudos and best wishes for happiness to sheryl swoopes. honesty and courage come way before concerns over the fiscal well-being of the wnba. there will be plenty of kids whose lives will be impacted for the better by her example.
