Jerome James isn't half the basketball player Ratliff is. Give me the guy with the High IQ and work-ethic who even being "run-down" has played in 33 more games the last 3 years than the youthful Jerome James.

The scenario I want addressed is this: What if AD is cut.

Who starts at PF next to Curry? Where does the defense and rebounding come from on the front line?

Play Frye for 30-35 min and see what he produces. Frye is my pick for starting PF if AD is cut.

THe only reason we would trade Malik is too get a shorter contract. I think A Davis takes M Rose's spot. Id rather play Antonio all season than give those minutes to Malik. Antonio is either finishing his career, or playing for a new contract. Either way he's the type of player with pride who will play hard.

As far as a logjam at SF, who cares. It's a shorter contract and easier to deal with a logjam. If we get Ruben. Who is also a tough defender, even though not a good person. If we had him though, I gurantee he would start ahead of Trevor or Matt Barnes.

And as far as Theo Ratliff or Darius Miles? HELLLLL NO.

Even if Theo is productive, his contract is horrendous. I would only aquire it if they take on Jerome James and Malik Rose. And Darius Miles is signed for far too long, and his game is far too similar to Trevor Ariza's, except Ariza hustles. I would 100 times more rather have Trevor Ariza get every second that D Miles would.

I would love Frye for 30-35 minutes a night, but it's not realistic. He is a rookie and will have plenty of 10 minute, 4 foul nights. And then that would leave Lee (defense can leave him open cause he doesn't have a jumpshot and is not a real shotblocker) and Butler (who is more of C) and MoT. None of those guys is a PF vet who Brown can rely upon. And thus the Theo talk.

Isiah has shown no regards for the cap. Steph is making half the cap his last 2 years by himself.

And I agree JJ should go in any deal for Theo.

I would not want to give up either Lee or Reezy for him, nor do I think we need him.
same. what do u think about Theo?

HOnestly, I have not seen him play in sometime. I don't know his contract details either.

Im pretty happy with our team and just can't get into the many trade suggestions that go on around here. Just seems like James as a backup is not all that bad, and at 5mil is not too crazy. I prefer we never did this, but we did. AD can play backup center, as can Jackie blue. So why we need Theo?

ANd I don't think this team is a title contender, so why bring in a vet like that?

Eddy Curry is gone make a believer out of you, but I would like to state for the record that I want DMiles and not anyone else on the Blazers. Theo is too old and Ruben has taken too many hits to his eye socket courtesy of Zach Randolph. I just think the chemistry would be better with Miles than the other two.

I say Malik for Miles because of his youth and his potential. He is still relativley young and since you say we're not title contenders this year than why not get Miles now so next year we can shock the NBA world.

I don't want to use our expiring contracts (AD and Penny) or MoT (1 year left) for anything Portland has unless they include Przybilla. I would rather keep good soldier Rose than take D Miles.

A Rose for Ruben would be ideal because Ruben has a shorter contract.

Ratliff is done.

I would like Zeke to roll with this crew. The only piece we are missing is a spot-up shooter.

I know I would take heat for this but I would go after Wally World. Q and MoT for Wally and KandiMan.

How about Jerome for a Snickers and a Laffy Taffy.

The Knicks need to cut the fat, not add to it. If there's nothing to be gained from trading Penny, why do it? Buy him out, IR him, let him expire etc. We don't need to move him for the sake of moving him. If a deal comes a long where we could get some valuable draft picks, then maybe I start to think about taking on aged, overpaid talent.

I think its at the point where if they have to buy someone out, they should do it rather than thinking about what they could've gotten in return. Was anything gained by trading Spoon for Mooch and not just buying him out? The end result was more long term money and very little useful talent.

id rather have david lee play 48 minutes than theo ratliff. I would live with some of the mistakes, but atleast I know that lee will rebound, run, has the ability to score points and keep up with younger faster guys. The fact that we have AD, Channing[who by himself deserves 30 minutes--the rookie BS is dumb--hes good right now and taking PT away from him is foolish] Taylor[who was nearly a 20 point scorer in this league and can still play at a high level] and Lee, we have enough--we have Butler James and Curry for C--simply we have enough unles it was an upgrade. Theo is a 5 who's play has dropped off considerably last year and has worsened into the pre-season--he has an arthritic hip and makes 12mm in smack. What person really wants Theo on this team, unless there was another package that came with it that made a lot of sense? I dont want theo to take minutes away from anyone and he would be another james--do we need another? we just paid 30mm for one? malik for patterson--of course

Do we really need to deal with Portland right now? *yes, I want to see Malik gone, but not because we need another PF/Center type of player. I want Malik gone, because Butler, Frye and Lee can actually outplay him at that position for a combine cost that is less than Rose's salary. All 3 of those youngings are stars to be. We are young and we should remain young...We don't need players like D.Miles nor Ruben Patterson to come and inject bad blood in our organization. Forget about them...Keep Rose until midseason and wait for teams to come after him, because believe it or not, around mid-season, a lot of teams will be looking to solidify their front line. We have a lot of assets now, let's trade them wisely. Penny and Rose or Penny and Mo can bring us 2 draft picks that could prove to be very worthy...After all, Zeke knows how to draft.

I just don't see the point of this deal. If AD was cut, I would think about it. With AD here though, this deal absolutely makes no sense to me. Right now, we have Curry, AD, Frye, and James who figure to get the most minutes at the PF and C positions. This is not including guys like David Lee, Malik Rose, and Mo Taylor who we might try to squeeze in at times to get minutes in the frontcourt. Don't get me wrong, Ratliff would make this team better, but look at that salary. I know there are times that we can ignore our cap situation (i.e. the Eddy Curry situation) but it doesn't mean we can just add guys like this just to improve our depth. I just don't see why we would want Theo went Frye is showing he deserves a good amount of minutes this season. Not to mention, we just gave our full MLE to a backup Center who should at least get some minutes to live up to some of his contract.

If AD is gone, its a different story but I just don't see the point of doing this deal right now.
