so ESPN reported some crap, someone posts it. how is it Briggs gets a hard time for this but its ok to discuss anything Marc Berman writes

Because the point is ESPN never reported it. I was able to trace it back to the realgm Knicks board where someone posted it without a link. Just bad info. People need to be more careful about reporting stuff as fact without doublechecking it.

Well I must applaud this site b/c it is rare that nonsense like this is posted here. That is one of the reasons I keep coming back to the board. Info seems to be very accurate here. Well, most of the time

Well if you're BRIGGS you dont need to check it, and you dont need a link, because about 25% of the people here believe what he said simply because he said it. And even defend him without a shred of evidence. Look through the thread.

well living in NJ I can tell you the Nets and their fans have had their eyes set on Rahim for a long time. Ever since they lost Kmart

Ok so Nets fans want Rahim, Big Deal! When I read this thread stating that they GOT him (and that ESPN said so) i got mad because I hate the Nets and i think rahim could help them....not take them to the promise land. But help. Then Briggs said it was a 'done deal' so i was just trying to figure out should I be pissed off or not about this move being made. I've been mad every since Kidd called us 'just another bad team' after we were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round just for his team to get knocked out in the first round the very next season. So I just wanted to know the statues of this 'so called' done deal trade.

Allow me to also add that the article posted above is obviously proof that SAR is not a member of the nets and if he has to choose between the 2 it seems likely he will choose the spurs where a ring is highly likely, and the money will be similar.

is anyone disputing the fact that the story was erronious?

I believe people are disputing that a story ever existed.

Fish, Pay attention homie! This is an old old rumor. It was talked about in the Post a while back. When free agency started, Rahim's agent said they will be visiting with the Nets. Briggs then started this thread saying that Rahim WENT TO THE NETS. Get it? These are two different things. It's not Briggs rumor. The only thing that came from Briggs is that ESPN indicated that Rahim is now a part of the Nets organization.

You know what? I think I misread your angle with this comment. My apologies if I did.

\I just hate to see someone call Briggs a liar. One of things I like about this board and why I came here is people dont post made up crap for the most part. Even the people I dont agree with around here I respect what they post as truth or opinion, not fabrication.

I think we have a great group and a diverse group of fans here. A lot of people post stuff that doesnt wind up being true, but thats just because the source was bad, as in this case.
We have good integrity around here.. I just hate to see it questioned. It opens the door for replys like "this is coming from the guy that said Rahim is a Net.." and before you know good BB chat goes away and you just have a bunch of mudslinging.

Part of the great thing about this forum is how quickly people get info. If I heard something on talk radio or see something scrool across the screen and post it guys are checking into it 60 seconds after I hit the submit button. Its great.

Lets just wait and see, guys. Before the offseason started, the big rumor about the Nets was that they would sign Rahim. Maybe thats why they took Wright. Briggs said it was done, but we don't know anything. If it happens, good for Briggs and the Nets. If not, aren't we all humans that can make mistakes?

Dude, it's as simple as this. He posted that he was on the Nets and when questioned his response pretty much was 'he's going to jersey, it's a done deal' as though he is not to be questioned. What you see here is just a bunch of smart people that are leary to take the word of one man just because he doesn't ever ever ever ever like to be wrong and LOVES to say i told you so. Then of course you have those who get mad because others of us 'question' him. Most posters here post on the humble. That is what I like about the site.

But whatever. It's no big deal. It's just that most men that I know don't respond to the 'It is true and do not question me' attitude. It's just the way of the world. It's as simple as that.

if you think he's out for attention or cares what people think your wrong. The only time I have ever seen him pull an "I told you so" was when he said Bynum would rocket up the draft.

I like BRIGGS a lot, but the thing he posts a ton of stuff here without a link, and some things turn out to be false. If its on ESPN news, its almost 100% of the time on ESPN.com. Go check there. If you saw it on ESPN news and didn't see it on ESPN.com...rather than state it as fact, why not say, did anyone else see this on ESPN news?

I think if enough different people are giving you a hard time about the same thing, there's a pretty good chance it's warranted.

but i agree with FIsh about this board, and one other thing i like is that when there's a flare-up it's usually over pretty quickly and then we move on.
