Nets take athletic Antoine Wright at 15. Nice pick.

Why take a swing man with a high or mid lottery pick when you can get them so easily (like just giving up Kurt and getting a solid one plus a 1st rd pick)? I'd take a 2 or 3 only if I were very convinced they'd be stars (which we can't say about Granger and Green). I wanted Bynum ahead of Frye, but I liked both a lot.

For all of those who think Isiah doesn't have a plan, it's pretty obvious he wants young, talented, athletic fast paced players. Look at how he changed the lineup so far.

PG: Eisley and Ward to Marbury and Nate Robinson
SG: Shandon Anderson to Jamal Crawford
SF: Keith Van Horn to Q-Rich and Ariza
PF: Kurt Thomas to Michael Sweetney and JYD
C: Dikembe Mutombo to Channing Frye and Jackie Butler

He still has the expiring contracts, picks 30 and 54, and the MLE to address some more holes.

for those worried about Frye's measurements....this from DraftExpress

...it’s not hard to envision Frye playing center in the NBA. His reach is virtually identical to Andrew Bogut’s and is only 6 pounds lighter than the Aussie.

we have to come out with another big with the last pick....I was hoping that Blatche would have been around....I thought that Isiah made a mistake by passing on this kid with the 30th pick...

Imagine that! We could've had Green or Granger! Well... we didn't do bad at all. Looks like we are building something real here...

That is why the Lakers win championships and the Knicks don't.

Zeke didn't think this was the safe pick, he thought it was the best player. He had these guys work out, you know?

I also believe he is under pressure from Dolan to make the playoffs next year.

Frye's gonna pan out ALOT better than some of you believe...

Isiah set out for him, and didn't bluff. Sometimes honesty works too...
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

They took the gamble, and it could work out. But tell me, are the Lakers going to win a championship with Bynum now? The guy is like 2 or three years away from contributing, and by that I don't mean Shaq's numbers, I mean he would be starting his NBA career by then. Not many high things can be expected from him, at least for many seasons.

So tell me how did the Lakers helped themselves with Bynum now? They just resigned Phil Jax, still have Kobe. Phil could not be around by the time Bynum developes. Kobe will be older when Bynum is ready. The Lakers still haven't build a team that could contend next season (they have a better chance because of Phil, thats all)

Maybe this gamble works out, but that will be seen later. The Lakers are supposed to win now, so it was a strange pick. I really believe, no matter how down you were on Frye, that they wanted Frye because he is a C and is ready to play now. They also passed Green, who could be ready sooner...

As much as many people hate the fact that we passed up Green, I believe we can't take much fire because of that. We took one of the best players avaliable, and one that definitely fills a need, a need very difficult to fill with trades or the FA. Teams like LA, Toronto, etc. should regrett it more than us...

why are we selling Frye short? if he turns out to be a 18/10/3 guy that is star level player to me. Frye can be that player.

goodluck!

Come on, guns! We had very good talent before the draft. We have even more good talent after it. We addressed a great need with Frye. Another C and the right coach, and we could be there next season. We weren't that terrible last season. We lost many games by one or two points. We had KT starting at C back then. We will be a very good team very soon...

Bobby Gonzalez thinks Frye is a Rasheed Wallace type player. Zeke thinks he has Duncan skills.

My sentiments exactly.

Too many teams were buzzing on Frye for it to be a fluke. Centers (especially those w/some college experience) were rare in the early first round, and we got the second best one @ #8.

Keep up the good work, Isiah!

I think Toronto had the worst pick by far, but us picking Frye over the next Kobe/Tmac in Green and passing over Granger, who is an awesome talent, too just to fill a need, is pathetic.

Why are we filling needs? Are we competing for anything next year aside from a lottery selection? A team as bad as the Knicks should be picking the BPA and worrying about everythign else later.

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

agreed. We are still too far away to be worrying about needs. I hope I'm wrong
