Cutting Houston DOES NOT open up more salary space.

oh but it does!! Cutting Houston will make Dolan more able to trade Penny and Timmy for long term contracts rather than just letting them expire. Not cutting houston makes dolan financially strapped, thereby making us lose players for nothing. open your eyes and see the big picture!

I agree, in theory Dolan is opening up $40 million in payments, which is equivalent to $20 million in salary over the next two years.

Now, I can only imagine (if we truly are rebuilding) just letting penny and TT expire off our books (which is possible unless a pau gasol falls out of a tree somehow), then that's about, what?, $30 million off our cap next year (somebody help me in my math).

So, next year, if everyone expires AND we cut houston, dolan frees up almost $40 in salary options.

Why don't he just come back and play for free???
Thats not fair bro. He was offered the money, he didnt steal it. He paid for a bad product but they knew what they were doing. This isnt charity.
Hakeem did it for the Rockets against the NBA Player's Association warnings. He got more money but a longer deal which was more cap friendly.
Goddamn that bastard Houston. I wish he had accepted a longer deal that was more cap friendly.

Last year, we were about 50 mil over.

MOst important thing is we can AFFORD to rebuild if we don't have the overhead. Look , its a biz, so if we suck, and we don't have to fill the arena, we can do the rebuild. If you got a big payroll, you got to STarphuch to pay the bills!

What do doctors say about him? If he can't play at all, meaning doctors say he can't return, he may be forced to retirement...

houston still wants to play. his quotes so far this offseason are all about recovering, getting back to form, playing again, he won't retire this summer. cutting him would be good for both sides. we get a luxury tax break, can write him out of our plans, and move on. he gets a chance to try and play without an obscene contract hanging over his head. if we force him to retire, as i understand it he would still be under contract to us, so if he wanted to play, its us, or we cut him without the tax break later.

Houston is as silky a shooter as there has been in the NBA in the last decade, but he is horrible now, just horrible. Do you remember those games where whoever he was guarding would just tear right by him? That was embarrassing. I've never seen someone so helpless on an NBA court.

Houston rants about giving it all for the New York fans... RETIRE AND GIVE YOUR EFFORT FROM THE BOOTH! Please, I'm so sick of this guy telling us he's going to be ready next week for two years and how the last rehab was all wrong. If you love NY and the fans, if you're loyal to Dolan, RETIRE. Then we can waive another big contract, make Zekes past moves look better and free up room to draft three, four players in the deepest draft there will be for some time.

Please Allan, I love ya, but give it a rest!
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
