Absolutely. Real quick on Utley - I just wanna see them attack this guy much differently now. Learn from your mistakes..You can't throw this guy fastballs right down the middle. Outside of one slider that caught too much of the plate from CC, ever other HR this guy's hit off us has been off a fastball right down Broadway. That can't happen. They're putting it on a tee for this guy right now for Christ's sake...I wanna see them expand the plate on this guy - maybe go off-speed for strike 1 to get ahead and then expand -- fastballs inside, elevate the heat, and then breaking stuff off the plate to try to get him to chase... This guy's a great hitter but we're just not pitching him well at all right now. We've got a lefty going on Weds. and then again on Thurs. worst case. Plus a new weapon in the bullpen with Marte. And we all know what Mo can do to lefties. Even Hughes can counteract a lefty with that cutter of his if he ever gets his act together..Keeping Utley in check is the key the rest of the way right now. I want adjustments made and I want this guy neutralized..

aj is a headcase...there's no predicting what he would've given us on full rest or not. just glad it happened in game 5 and not game 6.

Thats the thing... its not about Game5. If it were all about Game5, there were worse things than sending Gaudin...

Sending AJ on short rest (on the road) is practically throwing the towel in.
Facing Cliff Lee... 2 earned runs all postseason... practically throw the towel in before the game.

Say AJ was great last nite, Lee would've like'y been better. Why waste a pitching GEM against a moster pitcher like Lee?

if this series goes to a game 7 i bet AJB could fill in a couple innings too for that matter, & we all know CC's been pitching effectively on 3 days rest this postseason & would have gotten the ball regardless of who started game 5... in a game 7 it's all hands on deck anyway.

our pitching situation looks good if u ask me... & we get Matsui & Jorge back into the lineup tomorrow for a full game, which should help w/the offense... i'm more worried about that same crappy ass corporate YS crowd being at the game again than anything else, we really need to make noise tomorrow & support our team... the Phillies' fans were so much better at that this series than we were it was ridiculous.

The Guadin route would've put us in a better place. You can't argue that we are better off today.

Lee gave up 5 runs, ur telling me if AJ had control of his pitches we wouldn't have had a better shot at beating him than w/Gaudin on the mound?

jimimou, this comment is just silly. "for $82.5 million, you would think aj would have been fine w 3 days rest. thats what we bought him for. to pitch for us in the postseason." yeah, and he's done that. he pitched an absolute gem in game 2 to keep us in the series, did what he was asked to do and got hit hard by a great phillies lineup. utley has the most postseason homers of all-time, they are nasty pretty much top to bottom, how many MVPs do they have, and ppl act as if b/c burnett signed a big deal he has to have 7 IP, 15 K, 0 ER everytime he goes out.
