Does this mean you're identifying someone here as a member of the "far left"?

I have met Donald's father when he was the honoree at the first (and perhaps only joint appeal of the UJA and Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, all his grandchildren are Jewish yet he has been called an anti-semite ) in 1974 and believe i first met him there. I have represented him and have represented his primary real estate attorney. He is not a polished politician, he doesn't say things in the proper manner, doesn't necessarily articulate things clearly but he always keeps the end in mind. Every issue in like a deal that has to be made and strangely he does it. He is a negotiator and a darn good one and in the end he wins and so will the country. There has be some balance to the perfection (as seen by the millennials) and the reality of the possible. Keep in mind he negotiates in public but he always seems to come up with a darn good result and hopefully this non political approach will work for the betterment of our nation.

I find this more credible if it was a little more balanced. I read this as 'disregard the awful things he says and the way he often behaves, because he always succeeds.'

His success as a businessperson is in no way one-sided, there are failures there for all to see, not to mention questions about things he won't disclose.

You seem to be painting a mythological portrait of him.

I think we all do.

Who is being blocked?

Nancy Pelosi is definitely on the left in her views yet even she was heckled and shouted down. All I am saying is that any elected official or candidate for for office has or should have the right to speak and have his/her thoughts and positions set forth without crowd interference

This Trump administration has been wasting Taxpayer money left and right. Trump is costing way too much. Mnuchin and his wife and Price is also wasting money unnecessarily.

Why is this threat allowed to continue but remotely relevant ones have been moved or locked? The dribble in here has really ruined this forum. Perhaps it is time to move on rather than spamming the Knicks forum with this stuff.

You complaining about an OT Topic with actual FACTS and CURRENT EVENTS? Soon basketball will once again dominate on the forum. You could always start a new Basketball topic of interest.

If you don't wish to participate, please kindly move on, lots of other Knicks threads and you don't need to read what you don't want.

We do give a little room for the OT topics in off season and will move them accordingly.

I was going to start a new topic about this but out of respect for the off-topic nature of the issue, I am adding my comments here. Trump's latest controversy really saddens me more than any thing else he has done. Without any prompting whatsoever, this guy chimes in on the issue of NFL players protesting by sitting during the national anthem. First, he wants the NFL to fire any player that exercises their First Amendment right to peacefully protest. Trump says, " "Total disrespect of our heritage, a total disrespect of everything that we stand for. Everything that we stand for." Notice the coded language. It is "our" heritage and everything that "we" stand for. Meaning that black people are not apart of the "our" or "we". They are still house and field n---- here for your entertainment. Then he attacks the NFL for making changes to the game designed to protect players from head injuries by saying they are ruining the game. Meaning, who cares if dumb field N---- have brain injuries, they do not matter to me anyway. Then Trump goes on to state, "If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU'RE FIRED. Find something else to do!" Thus, he shows that the real issue is that these field n----- are making millions of dollars, and my base of poor white people are jealous and so we are going to make an issue of anything these uppity n----- do. He then "uninvites" the Warriors to the White House after they already decided they were not going. Saying it is a great honor to go to the White House. In short, you uppity n----- have money, so you should just be thankful for what you have and not make any trouble.

The fact that all of this was unsolicited shows the deep seated racism and bigotry that he has. I did not like Bush, but I would have never turned down an invitation to the White House to meet him. I did not like Romney, but I would have had respect for him as a person. I absolutely have mad respect for McCain, even though I don't agree with his policies. But we now have a president who you cannot even respect as a person, let alone addressing his policies. It is truly a dark time that we are living in. I hope that this country makes a better choice in the next election. It is not even about republican or democrat. It is about electing someone who takes the position of President seriously and understands that he represents the entire country and not just white people.

Trump's attack on NFL players is simple dog-whistle racism, he is a vile human being and will be carrying on (and likely escalating this ****) for the rest of his time in power. Fortunately athletes do have a fair amount of power, popularity and a platform and as we have seen with their initial responses, they are more than capable of using this to answer back

I 100% agree. I'm not in love with everything Trump does and this to me was not necessary and over the top. I believe we should stand for the anthem-- I thinks it's completely disresctful not to BUT the way Trump disparaged and handled that situation Friday night-- I don't choose to be associated with that-- that's not in my playbook. I think it's fair to ask Trump to apologize and as Lavar Ball says-- stay in his lane.

BRIGGS, I am glad that you do not blindly accept the stuff Trump does. I also respect your view that kneeling is disrespectful. I view it differently because I understand that the players are protesting specific issues and none of it is directed at or intended to disrespect the military. The military fights for citizens right to protest. This, while I personally would not chose to kneel, I do not take it as an affront for someone else to do so as a peaceful protest. The NFL had pretty much tried to ignore the issue and then Trump decides to bring it to the forefront for no good reason other than to get a rise out of his base and perhaps to deflect attention from the latest legislative loss he is going to suffer when the newest repeal bill fails. He actually called grown men "sons of bitches". Disrespecting their mothers and these citizens for protesting, but he has no problem calling people standing with white supremacist "fine people."
