He needs to learn to be a pg and pick his spots better. right now he is a volume shooter. He shoots 36% against the heat, 40% for the playoffs. His assist numbers are a function of him always having the ball in his hands. He needs to learn to make players better. Because rIght now he doesn't.They also need to get him a SG who's lights out. They'll find one in the draft.
yea, the problem with iverson and marbury was they couldn't share the ball. not even talking setting up but simply having a guy to shoulder some of the offensive burden. i don't think rose cares at all, which is a big difference.
when rose becomes a more efficient scorer he'll be lethal. which means less shots. which basically means keep taking the shots he's making and cut down on the silly ass plays. instead, give it up to the 2nd banana on offense. i don't think deng is that guy. i think noah could be if he really worked on his post game.
Players will only get better if they get the reps/fga. This can't be done without the ball on limited attempts. There should be games during a week Rose tells Noah before the game I'm getting you 12-15fga I don't care what you percentages are I'm getting you the rock.....Now what spots on the floor would you like to receive it. Let Thibs know this has to be done in order for the team to grow because Rose isn't going to forget how to split double teams and Somersault to the rim for a layup or cradle the pumpkin like he's Walter Payton for a reverse And1 or receive a pass in the open court for splash dunk.
What has to stop is him taking 25FGA 2/3gms. Seriously no legit point guard should ever approach games night in and night out with this mentality, but dropping double digit assist 2/3gms with low turnovers should always be the approach because if you're getting assists and not turning the ball over you're getting teammates shots making the offense that much more dangerous to contain and maximizing those possessions by not giving them away to the defense.
Things for Rose to work on
1. Dribbling skills going in all directions maximizing the space on the court....he should be like a car racing in and out of defenses with his dribbling skills
2. Passing all kinds 1 handers, bounce, needle threads, rhythm....above the rim, over the top of defenses, post entries he's mediocre in this area
3. Getting guys in spots on the floor they can succeed at, overall court direction demanding more activity from his teammates
4. Use more fundamentals to score including shooting jumpers off glass
5. Improve shot selection not all shots are good he takes..... some are downright horrific
6. Shooting less and/or picking his spots to conserve energy so he's stronger at the end of games, he has to understand his athleticism/endurance will not always been there at his beckon call
