I didn't, cause I knew this would happen. Only exception was that I made the statement the KNICKS would not draft Dunn cause his offense is poor. Anyway it's all worth it if we keep I Hart.

Pretty simple. They are shorting the Wolves long-term. And considering the turmoil with their ownership group, it's very much possible that their 2031 first will be a lottery pick especially since Anthony Edwards will have become a Knick by then.

Trading a current lottery pick for a pick that could possibly be a lottery pick 7 years down the road is a curious move for team currently rebuilding around a generational talent. Only explanation I've got is that they want to be awful again next year and have a top pick in 2025. But still seems like they could have gotten better value on #8...

This isn't your average draft. It's been widely discussed as the worst in a generational; similar to to 2013. KCP turned himself into a very useful role player but would anyone care to lose any of the other top-9 picks save Oladipo in that draft?

Whatever the outcome, I doubt the 8th pick would have any baring on the Spurs competitiveness next season. That much would be entirely dependent on Victor's growth and if they sign a slew of capable veterans to flesh out their roster.

If our window narrows, and OG is healthy, and due to inflation his contract is not crazy a team contending will pay handsomely for him and we can trade him our and get back our picks/capital to some extent in return.

Back in the day Lakers and Celtics set up 80's teams by abusing teams and getting picks back. Like when Lakers got James Worthy pick! New era and new way but Spurs are building out a long term roster and the pick, even if not a top one can still be used in many ways to help them.
