BAD IDEA

It would result in the epic image of his own hometown booing him out of the stadium

Kinda hope it happens. Trae Young is getting stale, could use a new chant to unite the crowd.

Wonder if Mitch would still be allowed to visit the White House after we win or if the whole team would be banned.

Conspiratorially speaking, what would the NBA gain from a repeat by OKC vs. a new championship in NYC?

I'd think the Knicks winning a chip would be in the NBA's best interests

I have it in the back of my mind that the NBA business behind the scenes - whether international expansion or whatnot - also drives these things, just not on court stuff that plays out in front of us.

For me, without anything to back it up, the SAS ownership team has done tremendous favors for the NBA as a whole and we have seen the favors returned over the years. David, Tim, Wemby is just too coincidental for me. Also, none of this type of thing is too outside norm of any large and private entities. These are all billionaires who conduct all sorts of business outside the NBA; and in fact, the NBA stuff is mostly sideshow flaunting of their money relatively speaking, it’s just the fun parts for them.

Since the inception of the NBA Draft Lottery in 1985, the New York Knicks have remarkably never moved up in the draft order to a higher position than what their regular-season record dictated

They are one of the most notoriously unlucky franchises in lottery history, frequently staying put or dropping back several spots. While they infamously won the very first lottery in 1985 to draft Patrick Ewing, their luck ran out immediately afterward. Over the last four decades of lottery appearances, they have never jumped a single spot.

The New York Knicks have participated in the NBA Draft Lottery 20 times since the lottery system was introduced in 1985.

The math aint mathing if everything was on the up & up.

How many times were we in the lottery?
how many picks did we trade away?
how many short sighted starphuch things did we do?

We here not becuse we got lucky in the draft. In fact one might surmise we go lucky to not move up?

How does trading draft picks correlate with jumping draft position?

I think that's what would happen against us too. OKC is the more dangerous team for us to face.

iHart is dominating in the 4th quarter, outplaying Wemby in a big way

They need an enforcer next to him. Same thing we had for Patrick. I say use those 3 goons they have for 18 fouls. Biyombo, Olynyck and Plumlee

I’m really getting sick of hearing that both OKC and the spurs are better than us … have these so called experts watched basketball. Sure in the regular season I’d agree both the spurs and OKC were playing somewhat better than us … but we did win the cup and beat the spurs .

This team is not the same as the regular season team … this is the best team I’ve ever seen wear a Knicks uniform and that goes back to king, Ewing, spree.

This team is not only statistically better than both of these western teams . They are just playing better basketball than both western teams period via eye test as a person that watches basketball. We shouldn’t be the underdog if we are going by playoff play. Because no one is playing better basketball than the Knicks .

Knicks in 4 !!! Let’s Go Knicks !

And let’s shut these haters up once and for all!!

Okay

I did miss the 3rd Italics. Sorry.
I see your point and yeah your right, it sucks.
My point was if we had not the rights to the pick then does the that work to the "Not everything on the up and up?"

https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/lottery_results/by_team/20/New-York-Knicks

The above link depicts the 20 chances. We moved back 7 times. Moved up once. Hell of time though!
Your right, our history sucks! I looked at wizards who been there more and they moved Back quite a bit to when they moved up. Heat have been in lotter only 12 times. They have moved back 6 and never moved up. I have not looked at all the teams but some are unlucky also.
No doubt in my survay there are far more that drop than moved up.
When you look at it, there is some math to it.

Thanks for the link. Now look at the Spurs.

In the lottery 10 times in 38 years. Moved up 6 times out of 10. Never moved back. Netted 3 all time great generational talents within 3 of the 6 move ups. In comparison to 1 move up(which the NBA got critiqued for cheating in favor of the Knicks with a frozen envelope) in 20 attempts and 7 drop backs.

But yea everything appears on the up and up.

OK. But does the Spurs ownership have stuff on multiple owners? I might counter to conspiracy knowing most owners are competitive and unless there is some reason, why would other owers put up with some teams gaining favor over others? The Commish works for the owners. The owners don't all like each other, they are not always likable themselves.

When a mathmatical anomaly presnets with no logic I suppose its hard to argue against it.

If I had the answer to that I would of said it already. Given the link you provided no other teams chart comes close to the Spurs(Outside of the Lakers).

Every team has multiple drop backs. Spurs not once.

Dallas also moved up only once in their lottery history. Just so happen to be the year they traded Luka. They magically moved up 10 spots to land net Flagg. Probably the only reason why the Spurs ain't move up again.

Well stated. Very impressive historical context. It has been a privilege to witness this level of play.
